Gartien Pineapple Cake – A little piece of Penang
Facebook can sometimes work wonders! I’ve seen several or should I say MANY Penang-langs posting the famous Gartien Pineapple cake on Facebook (especially with the Mid Autumn festival around the corner).
I’ve eaten Pineapple Cake ONCE and ONCE only during a Taiwanese food promotion in 2011 where we also got to witness the Chef making the pineapple cake right before our very own eyes.
That was my one and only time savoring this delicious delicacy. I don’t get to eat them anymore after that as I can’t find it anywhere in the Klang Valley.
Back to Facebook, I got extremely excited when I saw many Penang friends posting about this famous pineapple cake so I casually commented that iWant it too! Out of my many friends, orang kuat Penang Pamela of Malaysian Foodie responded to my comment and surprise, surprise, I got a call from her the other day! She called to say she got me some pineapple cakes fresh from Gartien, freshly ‘flown’ from PENANG!
Excitedly I told Darling to drive me to collect those pineapple cakes from her!
Ethan got super excited and can’t wait to open the package to see what’s inside.
Beautifully packaged. I noticed they have a new packaging as the ones I saw my friends posted on FB was different. I prefer this new packaging. It looks nicer and classier :D
As usual, this boy can’t wait to get a bite. He’s a HUGE fan of pineapple tarts so you can imagine how much he loves this pineapple cakes! He made quite a mess in the car though with the crumbs and all…
Gartien Pineapple Cakes. RM38 for a box of 10 pieces if I’m not mistaken as Pamela doesn’t want to accept my money >_<
Thank you Pamela. Those pineapple cakes did not ‘survive’ a single day longer as they all ended in our tummies on that very same day!
Glad that Ethan loves it :) Is also my lil girl fav
Thank you again Pamela :)

Looks yummy!! I wonder if this one better than Taiwan’s Sunny Hills pineapple cakes or not.
I’ve never tried Sunny Hills’ so I won’t know but this is much better than the one I tried during the Taiwanese food promotion back in 2011 la.
