Avocado Milk Smoothie Recipe

I’ve never tried avocado in my life believe it or not. Never know if it’s nice or not until last weekend when I was shopping and saw them (Australian Avocados) selling at RM10.90 for a pack of 3. I asked Darling if he would like to give it a try and he said why not since there are so many health benefits of eating avocados.

Avocados are packed with disease-fighting antioxidants. That alone is enough to convince us to buy them.
Benefits of Avocados

But when I sliced it open, I discovered how ‘oily’ it was. I dared not even try to eat it raw like that! So I resorted to making smoothie out of it.

Health benefit of avocados

I removed the seed and scoop out the pulp.

Put the pulp of the avocado along with honey in a blender. Add milk, lemon juice and ice cubes. Blend.

My avocado milk smoothie.

It tastes weird! I guess it is an acquired taste. Even Darling who takes any types of fruits find this a little hard to swallow. We can’t get over the fact that it is greasy!

But the fact that avocados are packed with carotenoids that protects against eye disease, helps us lose weight, stabilize blood sugar and lower our cholesterol kept us motivated to gulp down our glass of avocado smoothie!

Do you know that avocados can also protect your unborn baby?

One cup of avocado provides almost a quarter of your recommended daily intake of folate, a vitamin which cuts the risk of birth defects. If you’re pregnant—or planning to be—avocados will help protect your unborn baby.

I have 2 more avocados in the fridge and I don’t know what to do with them. I can’t imagine slurping on the avocado milk smoothie again. I can’t imagine having them in my salad. I can’t imagine having them anywhere! Boy.. how in the world can people rave so much about avocados?!

Bleh…

Omg I love avocados! Avocados + a dash of lemon pepper on top of a multigrain toast = so yums!

  • //

I love avocados! My mum had a tree but she recently chopped it down and replanted a new one. I think it should taste better without the lemon juice. Try a few other concoctions and see. For me, I like to eat it plain or sometimes just mash and mix with a bit of honey.

Try some honey perhaps…if not, I guess it could go into your sandwich. And that’s pretty cheap.I’ll be buying more with that price. :D

Milk makes me sleepy…but I love avocado though!

I never tried avocado too, despite of so many good review about the fruit. I always thought that smoothies is the best way to try this fruit, but it seems like not the case.

do you know the indonesia (especially Bali) very famous for avo smoothie? Add chocolate.. fuyoh, so yummy!!!

  • //

    woww..so cheap!
Maybe can try other recipe, will taste better.

  • //

you should blend it with condensed milk, water and ice. will taste so much better! this was what the lady selling the avocados in midvalley recommended. :-)

  • //

How about making your own guacamole and use it as a dip for nachos or as a spread for bread?

  • //

Maybe blend with choc milk. In Indon, this choco avo smoothie is very popular. I think they added alot of chocs and sugar.

  • //

I like to put them in my salad but those at supermarket always not enough ripe to be eaten every time I need them >.<

  • //

I love to have it in my salad too..like Choi Yen said.

  • //

Google for Jus Alpukat cos they add chocolate inside.
    And Guacamole spread or dip.
