Coca-Cola Chicken Recipe

Darling and I don’t drink Coke if we can help it. But the other day we were given a can of Coke and it was left sitting in our fridge for months! I was cleaning the fridge several days ago and noticed that lonely can of Coke and wondered what can be done with it when I remembered reading about Coca-Cola Chicken some time ago.

I was supposed to cook Ayam Pongteh today but decided to dish out Coca-Cola Chicken instead :D

This is by far the simplest meal I’ve ever cooked! All it takes is 3 simple ingredients and the cooking method is so simple we can cook this with our eyes closed! Cooking time is approximately 30 minutes.

3,2,1 CHICKEN!

Coca-cola chicken ingredients

All I used was this 3 ingredients:

1) Chicken (I used 7 pcs drumstick)
2) A can of Coke
3) 1/3 bowl of soya sauce

Here comes the cooking method. It’s so simple you will laugh I guarantee you!

how to cook coca-cola chicken

Place the chicken in a wok. No need to add oil.

Pour the soy sauce.

Add Coke. It’s important to use the original Coke and not Diet or Flavored Coke for this dish.

Do not use Diet Coke as you won’t want to eat slimmed chicken. Do not also use Flavored Coke as it will make your chicken taste like horse meat. Just kidding :P

Let the mixture boil. This is when I get to play several rounds of Candy Crush ^_^

Towards the end of 30 minutes, the mixture will evaporate very quickly. Stop playing Candy Crush immediately and stir, stir, stir until the chicken is nicely glazed. You won’t want to burn your chicken at this stage.

Dish out and serve with white rice.

I’m surprised at how delicious this simple dish is. It’s sweet and what is meant for lunch and dinner ended up as lunch only as Darling and Ethan helped themselves to third and fourth servings until the plate is cleared!

With a recipe this simple, any noob can now cook! Try this, you won’t regret it especially if you have kids at home. We don’t drink Coke but we’ll make an exception on COOKING it! ^_^
