Sakae Sushi @ Paradigm Mall

Paradigm Mall. Have you heard of Paradigm Mall? By now lots have been said about that mall. We visited that mall two days after their official opening and sad to say that it was extremely dusty.  The floor was slippery and I almost slip a couple of times. It was not easy navigating through the awkwardly designed mall with bottleneck human traffic at certain areas of the mall.

That was my first visit to the mall; it has been more than a couple of weeks since their opening and I have not make a second visit to see if things have improved (I hope they do) but let me share a better part of my visit to that mall that day – we had great lunch at Sakae Sushi. Ever since Ethan attended the bento making workshop with his schoolmates at Sakae Sushi 1U, he is in love with Froggie!

Ethan is reunited with Froggie at Sakae Sushi, Paradigm Mall. We love Sakae Sushi. It beats other Japanese brands out there because it has a cute frog as its Mascot :P

The first thing on the conveyor belt that caught Ethan’s eyes is this cute Froggie. I don’t remember seeing it the last time we dined at Sakae and that is because this is one of their latest addition.

Ethan also loves the interactive menu system. We have always dislike keeping the waiter/waitress waiting while we are making up our mind on what to order. With this interactive menu system, we can place our order as and when we have decided and the order will be sent directly to the kitchen while we decide on other items. It is very user friendly that even a 4 year old can place his own order ^_^

Ethan and his kiddy meal. It comes with Vitagen and he cleared his plate effortlessly! He always clears his plate at Sakae! If only he can do the same thing at home >_<

While Ethan was having his kiddy meal, Darling and I had the various new offerings in the menu.

Sakae Blossoms (RM9.99) Intricately-designed roll of tempting grilled salmon, shrimp roe and mayonnaise on a delightful maki.

Kaisen Salad (RM16.90) We have to have salad in most of our meals and this tantalisingly fresh servings of prawns, tuna flakes, snow crab leg and assorted vegetables served with creamy goma dressing is simply fragrant and delicious!

Inari Avocado Ebi (RM7.99) Ethan loves prawns so besides his kiddy meal, he had this succulent whole prawn mixed with delicious vegetables and salad dressing, wrapped in sweet beancurd skin.

Soft Shell Crab Maki (RM5.99) I can’t resist soft shell crab and this mouth-watering maki creation of crispy soft shell crab, sweet beancurd, sushi rice and spicy mayonnaise sweeps me off my feet!

Hana Maki (RM9.99) Beautifully crafted flower rolls with delicate raw salmon petals and sushi rice centre topped with mayonnaise and a luxurious sprinkle of shrimp roe. Simplicity at its best!

Ebi Crepe (RM5.99) Luscious roll consisting of whole cooked prawn with assorted vegetables and mayonnaise wrapped in a light crepe layer.

Hotate Mentaiyaki (RM20.90) Succulent half shell scallops grilled with cod fish roe.

Darling can never have enough to eat unless he finishes off with some noodles so we shared a bowl of Curry Udon (RM12.90)

Don’t expect this to burst like our typical curry noodles as this is milder flavoured with a hint of sweetness in the gravy. I find it okay to share this with Darling but if I were to eat this alone I guess it will be a bit too bland for my liking.

We finished off our meal with refreshing dessert. We had Goma (Black Sesame), Matcha(Green Tea), Dragon Fruit and Passion Fruit (RM5.90/RM6.90) ice creams and sorbets. I love the sourish passion fruit best!

Before we leave, a family portrait with Froggie :D

Oh yeah another thing. We always use our Sakae card whenever we dined at Sakae Sushi because we get 5% to 50% sakae points and every 1 Sakae Point is redeemable as RM1 to offset future bills. Awesome right? I know!!

Been before to Sakae at Paradigm Mall. I would say not bad. The manager of Paradigm Mall outlet is actually from Subang Parade. Can recognize him.. lolz.. He greeted me with a smile there… hahahaha

  • //

Awesome and Ethan is so cute!!! I want to go try it someday!

  • //

Ya…saw lots of complaints about it on Facebook – the lifts…and the PR/customer service people. Hey! I had Japanese too the other day – tomorrow’s post, I think.

  • //

    Cute froggie.

  • //

I have never been to this SS yet… there is one branch in Ipoh now… my girl will definitely love this!

  • //

Wow. What a feast! Seeing all those pictures are giving me a few tips on how to present mine in the future. Hahaha. This mall is very near to where I stay but I am staying clear of it for the moment because I hate traffic jams.

  • //

    Nice food..

  • //

    em.. nice!

I never liked Sakae Sushi, feel that their price is quite expensive, and with that price, i can go to some other more authentic japanese restaurant instead of this more “fusion” style of japanese restaurant and oh, love the line which says: reunite with the froggie LOL :P

  • //

ha, talk about the floor, I thought only my problem of wearing a wrong shoes that day >.<

We dined in this Sakae too in of our 5 trips to Paradigm. It’s the nearest mall to our place now :p Yeah, I agree that they were lots of hiccups during the 1st week of their opening. Our worst encounter was the stinky carpark (sewerage water leakage!). However, in our subsequent trips there, things seemed to be improving…

Haven’t been to this mall. Hear a lot of promos on the radio but still it’s not near for me. I like Sakae Sushi too but don’t go there so often because hubby doesn’t fancy Japanese as much as I do. Hey since when the kids meal so cool one?

    • //
