Never, ever, EVER cut an Ang Pow packet open!

I’ve heard it a thousand times. Old folks always say NEVER, EVER cut an Ang Pow packet open. You may tear it open but don’t ever CUT it!

I never realized the significant of that sayings until recently when we were given an Ang Pow packet each. Darling and I gave ours to Ethan for him to tear them open and take out the money. I saw him tearing both Darling’s and my red packet so I assumed he’ll tear his as well but alas! While I was reading the newspaper, he took a pair of scissors and cut his red packet open!

I did not realized what he has done when he asked me where should he throw the small piece of red packet that he had cut. With my eyes still on the newspapers, I told him to just throw it in the dustbin.

And then it hit me, “What small piece of red packet?!!” I looked up to see him holding a red packet that is already cut! Immediately I took it from him and true enough when I checked the note inside, it was cut too! >.<

Itu dia, my anak da genius with the cut note! I went, “Hoi!!!!!!!!!!!!! U just cut a TEN ringgit note you know!!!”

It’s real money hokay? Not those that I printed for him to play with! >.<

And then, with the most innocent look and the cutest puppy dog eyes ever he said, “I not purposely wan ok? I just got tired of tearing those ang pows so I use the scissors to cut it”

I answered, “Good-lah. There goes your Madagascar patungs from McD. TEN ringgit can buy THREE toys you know!”

He said, “But not I pay wan what! Daddy yang pay! His money tak kena CUT oso!”

>_<

How to re-use it.. Cello it back.. And then, buy something worth RM10 or more.. When paying..

    1) Fold the RM10 note into half with the cello part facing bottom (unseen)
    2) Pay exact amount so you don’t have to wait for change
    3) Quickly leave before the receiver spotted the cello-ed note

    DONE! :D
