I can SEW!

My mother can’t live without her sewing machine. I on the other hand, can’t live if I HAVE a sewing machine! I hate sewing. You don’t see me sew for nothing. If I have to get my dresses or pants altered, I’ll send them to my trusty tailor to do it. And if I get Ethan to deliver the clothes, they might fix the button free of charge! :P

But today I was caught in a rough spot. We just bought a new baju melayu for Ethan a couple of days ago. The pants are too lengthy but we did not have time to get it altered. He needs to wear it today for an event so I had no choice but to alter it myself! @_@

I remembered I celok a sewing kit from our last hotel stay (crossing fingers the management people from that hotel won’t read this) and thank goodness for that I have a needle and a little bit of thread. My gawd I tell you, so susah to cucuk masuk the thread into the needle! After several failed attempts I finally managed to get the thread in! Fuh! I’m the KING QUEEN of the WORLD!!!!

After some folding and sewing, I finally got it done!

Tah-dah! Ethan’s pants are all nicely shortened and sewn! *smug face*

Darling bit his teeth when he saw the outcome! I looked at him asking, “What?” but he said nothing. I think after all these years he has learnt that if you have nothing nice to say, it’s better to say NOTHING!

I’m wondering if my sewing is all that BAD? Isn’t that how you sew the bottom of your pants? o.O

Anyway, Ethan wore his very first baju melayu proudly today while I wore the Nyonya Kebaya.

People look at us funny when we went jalan-jalan in Sunway Pyramid after the event. I dunno. I personally thought I did a great job at altering Ethan’s pants but still the stare! >_<

  • //

congratulations! haha my mom don’t know how to sew either … yikes… but my sister managed to learn this craft because of her home economics class .. so whenever we need something to be sewed , we just approach he hehe

  • //

Bravo! Bravo! Hey!!! That’s so very nice… Next time I ask you to make for me – so difficult to buy my size in the shops… Hehehehehehe!!!!

  • //

    Ok mah, good attempt.

Maybe you will fall in love with sewing after this time:-)

  • //

Hm… not bad ah.. boleh tahan la.

  • //

Not bad la…your sewing skill is good,at least better than mine la.

  • //

hahahaha mum help me sew my clothes too! =p

  • //

People stare because both of you look so good in your outfit! Handsome Ethan!

  • //

    easier just to cut it???

    • //

Cut dy still have to sew it. So I cut, fold and sew… But I doubt this will last like this. I have to eventually send it to the tukang jahit later… -.-

      • //

no no no. cut it already, then use candle to go over it (easiest way for u) ;p

        • //

Serious? Wait I try it see if it works! I’ll do ANYTHING as long as I don’t have to sew it! :)

  • //

Not too bad lar for first attempt. With practise can be better. You’re good at crafty things right? I’m sure you got the stares because both of you look so cute together. It’s not always you can see a chinese boy in baju melayu!

  • //

haha finally you have done sewing the pant. So it take you long time to pass the thread thru the needle?

    • //

YEAH! It’s either the thread from the hotel sewing kit is lousy or it’s ME who is even lousier >.<

  • //

you can iron the edge of the pants, it will look better.
better don’t cut, so that next time still can wear if Ethan become taller.

  • //

Ok la, Merryn, good job already. Luckily I got chance to learn basic sewing at my homescience lsson in secondary school.

  • //

Good effort…i’m going to show this to my wife and ask her to sew something for me…haha

  • //

Not bad. It looks like little flowers at each corner. Good job! Next time fold it outside so people can see the flowers. Haha

  • //

Short cut!! Thanks for teaching me that… I am as “sew-less” as you! :)

  • //

u will send your cloths to tailor even just for a button sewing? Serious?

  • //

Hmm…. I guess that’s called ‘creative sewing’? ;) And of coz ppl r staring. How can they not stare at pretty girl (in kebaya samo) and handsome boy?

  • //

I would have say nothing also… hahaha
I will focus on the pretty lady in kebaya and cute boy in baju melayu…. two thumbs up.

  • //

    I also can!

  • //

At least you can think of a way to shorten the pants means you are getting there. Looks neat.

People are staring at the pretty nyonya in kebaya and the handsome boy in baju melayu lah.

  • //

Now everyone can sew! Technically, all you need is needle and thread right? I think you did a pretty good job :)

  • //

You should use same color thread.. :)

  • //

OMG! Like dat oso can?! *faint* hahahha

  • //

Mommy and Son looking good in their baju! :)
