Kedai Kopi Hai Peng, Kemaman, Terengganu

From the first day we stepped foot in Terengganu, everybody was telling us that we must drop by Hai Peng Kopitiam to try their famous coffee.

We wanted to drop by on the second day but our schedule was so tight that we could not make it. We did pass by the place and saw such huge crowd there. It must be really good then, that place..

Finally on our third day here we decided to make a pit stop there. The bus driver took a wrong route and the supposedly 20 minutes journey became over an hour >_<

As usual, it is packed there but we managed to grab a seat after going to the loo ^_^

Immediately they know we are not locals as I asked for their menu -.-
Though the place is packed, service is prompt. Our orders came in no time..

I ordered the Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich with Honey (RM4.90)

The peanut butter and honey makes an extra sticky combination. Took a bite of this and I can’t talk anymore. Darling had a moment of blissful silence for a moment there =_=

Darling ordered their famous Kaya toast for Ethan (RM1). They both love the rich and fragrant kaya that they call for another set of that.

The 3 of us do not take coffee so we took Milo Hai Peng instead (RM2.50/each)

Anything special about it? Nope except it is served in a plastic cup ala Bubble Tea contributing more towards plastic waste.

We missed out on their speciality, the coffee as we don’t take coffee but those who tried their coffee said that it is very robust and roasted, they love it.

I’ve not seen kopitiams serving half-boiled eggs this way in a long, long time. These days the eggs are placed in an Eggmatic container and served to us ready to be eaten. Here at Hai Peng Kopitiam, we have the power to decide how ‘well-done’ we want our half-boiled eggs to be; 30%, 50% or 100%? 100%?! You might as well order HARD boiled eggs :P

Their Special Fries is SPECIAL alright. Try asking for ketchup and they’ll bluntly answer you they have NONE. Give them a stare and they’ll tell you to eat those fries with their special sauce ie the ‘special’ mayonaise.

I don’t know but I find eating fries that way a bit strange.

The little one gives his thumbs up though..
