Raku Japanese Buffet, Concorde Shah Alam

Japanese food is ranked one of the healthiest cuisines in the world. It is rich in antioxidant, calcium, iodine and omega 3. Beside these wholesome goodness, thanks to Japanese food’s unique ways of preparation and ingredients used, you can savour Japanese food without worrying too much about your diet or counting the calories.

Now that Chinese New Year is over and done with, it’s time to keep track of our diet and start getting fit again. It’s time to get rid of those extra calories gained during the festive season. It’s time to dine Japanese :)

There was once we dined ala carte in Raku Japanese Restaurant after running some errands in Plaza Masalam next door. We loved the Unagi Rice very much! Then we heard that their renowned Raku Japanese Buffet Dinner is back every first and final Saturday of the month and decided to give it a try. So there we were, Darling, Ethan and I having the time of our lives indulging in one of the best Japanese restaurant around.

On our way into the dining area, I managed to take a peek at the Chef through those bamboo walls :D

Raku Japanese Restaurant @ Concorde Shah Alam.

Love the spacious interior. Space is really a factor when we are dining with kids. I love it here as Ethan has ample of space to walk around and chances of him being knocked down by other patrons are minimized. I’ll refrain from dining in a cramped area especially when we are having buffet. The thought of others bumping into the little fella is just disturbing.

We start our dinner with varieties of exquisite tsukidashi (appetizer) such as Seasoned Baby Octopus, Seasoned Green Seaweed, Spicy Sesame Scallops and Pan-seared Tuna. Simply love the baby octopus that I had multiple servings of that!

I tried the assorted tsukemono (pickles) too. I’m not a fan of pickles so this doesn’t really go well with me. I love to have my greens fresh so I opt to have their salads instead.

The sarada (salads) is to die for. The salmon is very fresh and I cleared this in no time.

Darling preferred the Fruit Salad though. I think the tangy and crunchy green apples are what nailed it for him. Ethan loves the raisins lots that I had to go for another round and try picking out raisins only -.-

Chawanmushi is a must when we dine Japanese. Here, their chawanmushi is super cute and lovely. Flower and heart motives are simply romantic, befitting for a Valentine’s Day meal! :D

The Onigiri is scary though. It is so huge that even if I take ONE and shares it with Darling, we WON’T be able to finish it! I wish they’ll come out with mini sized Nigiri as when we dine buffet style, we would love to have a sample of EVERYTHING in small little portion. I felt so bad for not being able to finish this and left it to waste :(

Wait, wait, I can’t recall what fish is this but this is GOOD! The flesh is so tender that it simply melts in my mouth. I swallowed it effortlessly *Gaya orang malas makan*  :D

Back when I was in college, I super love sushi. I can have lots and lots of this. I still love sushi NOW but am trying to cut down on it as I can’t afford to have too much carbs. However, the sushi here looks very fresh that I just can’t help myself from indulging in a plate full of them :( Simply delicious, it’s worth the extra miles I have to jog the morning after -.-

These days I prefer to indulge in sashimi instead where I need not worry about the extra calories I’m stuffing myself with. I’ll only take sashimi that looks fresh and does not have that fishy smell though. These days with every restaurant trying to cut down on their buffet price, the quality of their food drops too but thank goodness here we got ourselves FRESH sashimi that looks like they just popped out of the ocean!

The Beef roll with asparagus is quite a hearty meal. The beef slices are what every sinful beef supposed to be – moist with the right amount of oil, correct proportion of lean meat to fats and the asparagus are simply crunchy! Too bad Darling and Ethan doesn’t take beef though.

Yakimono. We just couldn’t help ourselves from having a bite of the grilled delights. Consists of different parts of the chicken it is interesting to try each and every part just to see how different it fares though grilled the same way :)

I took the grilled fish for Ethan but he doesn’t like it. I took a bite of it and found that it is a tad too dry. Ethan found it hard to swallow.

Another one of my favourite – Handrolls! Yums! How do you eat your handroll? From the top (like eating an ice-cream) or from the bottom? I learnt that the correct way to eat handrolls is from the bottom but I still prefer to bite it from the top :P

For dessert, we have fruits and tempura ice-cream to end our satisfying meal.

Just look at how happy they are <3

Priced at RM75.00++ per adult and RM40.00++ per child, the Raku Japanese Buffet Dinner is available from 6.30pm to 10.30pm available every first and final Saturday of the month.
