98.8 Chinese New Year album

Every Chinese New Year, we will be awaken by the loud Dong Dong Chiang on TV. My Dad will deliberately blast the TV so loud just to annoy us. He is always the early bird where else we always sleep in as we only go to bed at 3am the earliest during CNY. It has been a ritual of his to blast the TV by 10am if we are still not awake. You’ll never be short of Dong Dong Chiang on TV during the CNY. I know as I’ve always ‘disliked’ those loud and high pitched kids singing like they are high on helium or something..

I never allowed Darling to buy any CNY album or blast them at home. Each time I hear these on TV I’ll switch channel and if every channel is playing those CNY songs, I’ll switch off the TV!

Last week when we were in Sunway Pyramid, Ethan heard a particular CNY song playing. He squealed in delight telling me that his teachers have been teaching him that song in school. Today, he heard that song again in One Utama. He pestered me to buy the album for him. I don’t know what song he is talking about and definitely have no idea on which album to buy!

Being the silly banana that I am, the few criteria that I looked for are:

1) Brand

I realised I am not familiar with any of the Production House that produces all these CNY album so this is not helping. And then I saw 98.8 on one of the album! Ethan is always chanting, “chiew pak pak, chui how ting” ok so my pin yin fails.. but that is what I hear day in day out. Apparently the Daddy lets Ethan listen to 98.8 every morning on the way to school. So I reckon this must be good as 98.8 is familiar to us -.-

2) Price

The price ranges from as low as RM9.90 to as high as I dunno. I saw this collection of 98.8 album. 3 albums for RM9.90 only. Woolah! So cheap! BUY, BUY!

So just like that, I’ve made up my mind to purchase this pack of 3 albums. Gave RM10 to Ethan to make his purchase and happily walked out of Speedy.

Met Darling for dinner and Ethan happily showed his Dad what he got.

That’s when Darling burst out laughing telling me that those are albums of yesteryears. Those are of The year of The Rabbit, Tiger and Ox! Just as I am trying to be proactive… -.-

Went home after dinner and quickly hid the album in the drawer hoping hard that Ethan will forget about it. I just can’t stand listening to all that ruckus… Am still crossing my fingers that come tomorrow, Ethan won’t be asking for that.

My boy is turning into an Ah pek…

**********

Update: Ethan did ask to watch the album and I must admit, it wasn’t as bad as I’d expected. Their voice are very soothing instead of those ol’ school high pitched type so I’m gonna let this play for a while. Yes, 98.8 Chinese New Year album has gotten my seal of approval! :D

Dun be surprise somehow I found children love CNY song. Same goes to my boy. He hardly watch or listen any CNY song. But when it show on TV, he just love the sharp red color, tong tong jian sound, merry & happy face & etc.

I buy just to satisfy the crave of my Princess of having her ‘gong xi gong xi’ songs and heck she don’t know what’s the songs playing… as long as she heard the word ‘gong xi’.. LOL! Cheap right, 3.30 per CD, my lunch also more expensive! LOL!
