Chinese New Year @ Tai Zi Heen, Prince Hotel

Tai Zi Heen is one of the top Chinese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur that displays the elements of refinement and delicacy through the concept of Cantonese cuisine dining and dedicated service.
Recently completed a new refurbishment with a new look, Tai Zi Heen is a place that believes in combining great food and impeccable service for a unique dining experience each time.
With Chinese New Year only several days away, we took the opportunity to ‘lou sang’ in town before heading back to hometown for that anticipated reunion dinner.

Salmon Yee Sang to kick-start our dinner
With fresh salmon slices
We were served the Double-boiled Pearl Shark’s fin with Bamboo Pith and Chinese Cabbage
The extremely generous amount of shark fin. Do take note however that if you are not a fan of shark fin, you can just arrange with Tai Zi Heen to substitute this dish with other delicious soup available.
Up next was the must have dish of the season – Braised Dried Oysters with Fatt Choy, Baby Abalone, Sea Cucumber and Wok-Fried Greens.
Tai Zi Heen really lives up to its reputation of using only the freshest ingredients and really generous too. We each got to savor the whole baby abalone and more!
While we were still in ecstasy over the tasty baby abalone, out came the Traditional Style Steamed Cod Fish. Just look at my plate! The wonderfully fresh cod fish were steamed skillfully that it retains its flavour and consistency. The smooth and flaky white meat oozed out wonders in my mouth that I just had to get extra helpings on this! This was easily Ethan’s favourite that night :D
We also got to sample one of their signature dish, Stir-fried Prawns with Pumpkin Sauce served on Rice Nest. The huge succulent prawns were well coated and fried to perfection, it was simply delicious!
We ended our meal with the Double-Boiled Hasma with Red Dates and Glutinous Rice Dumplings. If you are as blur as me and doesn’t know what hasma is, I’ve googled it and found out that hasma is a Chinese dessert ingredient made from the dried fallopian tubes of true frogs! Hasma is often mistakenly described as toad or frog fat, since it is sometimes referred to as “toad oil” (Chinese: 蛤蟆油; pinyin: há mǎ yóu). Why eat dried fallopian tubes you asked? Its health benefits include replenishing vital essence in the lungs, kidneys, and improving skin complexion! Now you know! :P
