Cataflam

Cataflam. This is what helps soothe Ethan’s throat and tongue ulcer for the past 3 days. This is also similar with Voltaren suppository. So when Ethan’s taking this, I am not suppose to insert any supp to him in case his fever go very high up again. Though I have to say, it is so tough to administer this cataflam drops into Ethan’s mouth. I am suppose to give 10 drops 8 hourly. But I gave him only twice every day. I have to get him to open his mouth and I count out loud for the 10 drops! Not an easy task! I prefer those that I can just pump into his mouth in a flash! Together with Zithromax (Anti-biotic), Ethan is finally getting better.

Today, I decided to google to understand better what is the miracle that helps soothe Ethan’s ulcer and to my horror, SOOOO many side-effects come with taking CATAFLAM!

GENERIC NAME: DICLOFENAC – ORAL (dye-KLO-fen-ack)
BRAND NAME(S): Cataflam
USES: This medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that relieves pain and reduces inflammation (swelling). It is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, dental pain, menstrual pain and athletic injuries.

SIDE EFFECTS: Stomach upset is the most common side effect. Nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision or loss of appetite may also occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Inform your doctor promptly if you develop: ringing in ears/ loss of hearing, vision changes. If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking this drug and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/ abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Anyway, Ethan’s better today (touch wood). Today is also the last day for his Zithomax anti-biotic. I don’t wish to give him anymore medication tomorrow. So Ethan, please be a good boy and be well tomorrow. Your body has too much medication in it for the past week. It is time to stop, please.
