Bercerita bersama Adik Ayden: Arnab dan Kura-Kura

This is the story Ayden and I have been reading last week – The Hare and the Tortoise in Bahasa Malaysia. He learned many new words through this story such as mengejek, mengajak, berlumba dan laju.  Here is the video of Ayden summarizing the story for us. Hope you’ll enjoy it. Ayden @ 3Y5M Let me also share this video of Ayden summarizing the story of The Grasshopper and Ants in Bahasa Malaysia (in case you missed […]

Robi – The Trilingual Humanoid Robot

Children today are exposed to robotics very early in their lives. Robots are aplenty amongst us. Even vacuum cleaners are robots these days. Besides these robots that children encounter every day, there are countless courses easily available for kids to learn the basics of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science among others. Ethan loves robotics. He has shown a keen interest in robots from a very young age so we let him explore further […]

Cooking with Ethan: Bendi Goreng Bawang Belacan

After all the cooking videos I did for Ayden, I think it is only fair to have one for Ethan too. That boy has been so occupied with school, homework, co-coriculum and more that I hardly have time to speak to him on weekdays  Just a blink of an eye, Ethan is already 9 going to be 10 this year. He is growing up fast before my very eyes so I better take more pictures […]

Being Fit: Pure Luck or Lots of Hard work?

A recent conversation I had with an acquaintance had her saying this to me, “You are lucky to not grow sideways after having kids”. I beg to differ. LUCK has nothing to do with me growing sideways or not.  I put on over 20kg during each of my pregnancies. Being only 4’9″, the additional 20kg was really taxing on me. Closer to the end of my pregnancy, I waddled around like a penguin as I […]

Cooking with Ayden: Ayam Satay Buah Keras

A couple of weeks ago my mom and I did a live Peranakan cooking demo at The Straits Hotel and Suites, Melaka. One of the dish we cooked is Ayam Satay Buah Keras. Today, Ayden cooked the same dish at home but instead of using the wok, he used the rice cooker because he is too young to be handling a wok and a gas stove. If you wish to try cooking this dish, do […]

Jazzy Sunday Brunch @ Hotel Equatorial Melaka

We all look forward to weekends, don’t we? After all the hard work during the weekdays, it is a much sought after break to chill, unwind and recharge over the weekends with some good food and music.  Music affects us directly. We react differently to different types of music; upbeat songs make us excited while slower songs may make us sad. However, studies have shown that Jazz relieves stress. Jazz’s soothing melody helps us relax yet at […]

Bercerita bersama Adik Ayden: Belalang dan Semut

Ayden is 3 years 5 months. He is still not attending any preschool at the moment so it is entirely my responsibility to keep up with his total development. Children pick up a new language best below 6 years of age so I take this opportunity to teach Ayden an extra language besides English. I teach him to speak in Bahasa Malaysia. I wish I can teach him Mandarin but that is totally an alien language […]

Cooking with Ayden: How to Make Soya Cincau

Today we are making something really simple because we used store-bought items  Let’s call it a cheat-day as I am a bit lazy to prepare them from scratch. Nevertheless, it still gets a double thumbs-up from Lil Ayden as shown below: What is it that he made that excites him so much? Watch this video: It is also his first tutorial in BM  Ayden @ 3Y5M

Playground Maintenance

We’ve been frequenting this playground since big brother Ethan was a baby. The moment I was out of confinement I started to bring him here, until today together with lil brother Ayden. This was big brother Ethan when he was 17 months old.  This was lil bro Ayden when he was 2 years old. You can see that the equipment in the playground had obviously been vandalised over the years. That was back in 2015. […]

Stop Motion Animation: Snake vs Pikachu

Homeschooling Ayden has its ups and downs. There are days when he refused to touch any books and prefer to just play. On days like that, I’ll improvise and see how we can make it a learning session nevertheless. I saw that Ayden was engrossed playing with his PlayDoh so I suggested for us to make a stop motion animation out of it. This is the first time he is involved in the making of […]

Daiso Price Increase – Extra 60 Cents Per Item

I took advantage of the Thaipusam holiday to go to Daiso to buy a trolley-full of items because effective 1st March 2017, each normal item at Daiso Japan stores in Malaysia is being increased from RM5.30 to RM5.90!  Yup, a whopping RM0.60!  When the government implemented GST, the usual RM5 per item at Daiso cost an additional RM0.30, making it RM5.30 per item.  Next month with the price increase, we are going to pay RM5.90 per item […]

MILO®UHT® UHT Bento Making Workshop

With just a blink of an eye we are now in 2017. It is time to start getting the children (and us parents) ready for school again. That means waking up early preparing Ethan’s bento box to ensure he stays energized throughout the day. I got lazy midway last year as I found it complicated and tedious to pack his bento box and resorted to letting him buy food from the canteen. I lost the […]

canton2go Mini Buffet Delivery

Malaysians in general love food. We love anything food. There must be food in everything we do, be it a quick meet up over tea or a long catch up over dinner, food always takes the centre stage. But as much as we love food, not many of us are equipped with the life-saving skill of cooking. Urban folks especially are always in a hurry that we rarely get to spend time in the kitchen.  With […]

Popular Chinese New Year Snack : Chicken Floss Roll

Chicken Floss Roll is one of the more popular Chinese New Year snack around. It is extremely addictive that once you start, you’ll find it difficult to stop eating them. It is also expensive to buy them so I decided to resume making them this year. I used to make this every year before I have kids. The boys are pretty okay on their own these days so I can sneak some time making one […]
