School Reopens

School reopens. I am sure the children will be sharing with each other what they did during the school holidays. Ethan has done nothing much except being in the hospital. The Daddy did ask the boys what they want to do the first thing when we are all discharged and they both answered, “to watch Kung Fu Panda 3”. We have not been to the movies eversince Ethan started school in the morning session. So […]

Fever and Fits

I am sorry for not answering or returning your calls, replying private messages, comments and more. I know everyone is concerned and wants to know what happened to us, particularly Ayden but I do not have time to explain to each and every one. It was after midnight, 5 days after that horrifying ordeal that we are finally home again. So let me tell you what exactly happened. If you read my previous post, you’ll […]

Blood Test

We brought Ethan to the clinic in the evening as it is already the 4th day of fever and the paed just gave Nurofen to control his fever. Unfortunately his fever did not subside and by midnight it was as high as 40.4C!  We panicked and quickly brought him to the ER at that is situated about 10 minutes drive away from our house to test for dengue.  Little Ayden tried to cheer the obviously […]

Popping HOT!

Sooooooo… I woke up with many pictures of the partial eclipse on my whatsapp. I can’t believe we slept through it all. It has been a rough night. Ethan is on the 4th day of high fever. This morning it peaked at 40C! Haih…  The weather is still extremely hot. I believe if I place a cob of corn under the scorching hot sun it will be a popping party >_< Talking about popcorn, it […]

It’s SO HOT!

Gosh why is it so hot these days? I don’t even feel like going to the playground as it is still scorching hot eventhough it is close to 7pm! The big brother Ethan skipped school yesterday and today due to high fever. The 3 of us are prisoners in our own home. We take many showers but sweat buckets as soon as we get out of the bathtub. Urgh!  This is what we do everyday – […]

Working Holiday

I love going on a short getaway as that means getting to spend some quality time with the boys but when the hotel we live in comes with complimentary high speed internet access on a Mac, it is poison for me. I’ll end up stealing some time away to do a bit of work. It is even more toxic as I know the boys are having fun in the kids’ corner under the supervision of their […]

Happenings at HOME

Let me tell you a little about the happenings in our home this week..  I usually sleep facing Ayden so whenever he needs milk at night, he can just lift my shirt up and drink. The other day, I slept with my back facing him. In his drowsiness, he lifted my shirt to find the milk gone. Horrified, he shouted, “Mummy, tetek HILANG dy!” #BreastfeedingProblems Ayden and Ethan were fighting over something petty that ended in […]

Grocery Shopping

On weeks when I am too busy to go grocery shopping, I’ll take the opportunity to do so when Ethan is attending his drum class. I’ll usually make it a quick one and grab whatever I needed the most. Ayden will as usual happily grabs whatever he wants and places it into my bundle together.  Why is everything GREEN?! Ayden is at the stage where he prefers to be running around instead of sitting still […]

Our first laser tag experience

We attended HP Kids Day Out at Galactic Laser Mid Valley Megamall last Saturday. Ethan was extremely excited as it was our very first laser tag experience. He went for his taekwondo class early in the morning in order to be able to make it here by noon.  Galactic Laser, Mid Valley Ethan won a headphone during the quiz session.  The boys ate a little before going into the battlefield.  Okay I lied, they ate a lot […]

Ayam oh Ayam

We were back in my in-law’s place during the recent Chinese New Year break. There wasn’t much to do over there but the boys got the opportunity to be Kampung boys. One of the activity Ayden loves the most is playing with the chicks (as in ANAK AYAMs). Disclaimer: No AYAMS were hurt in the making of this blog post. My sister-in-law was attacked by the mother hen though while she was taking this chick away from […]

Our 9th Day of Chinese New Year

On the ninth day of the Chinese New Year it would be the celebration known to the Hokkiens as “Phai Thien Kong” which literally means “praying the Heaven God”. Prayers usually starts from 11pm on the 8th day or midnight onwards on the 9th day. Eversince I got married to Darling, I had been following him back to his hometown for this prayers except this year.   There is no school holiday for this special celebration this year and […]

Gong Xi Fa Cai

Thank goodness Chinese New Year is only celebrated once a year. It is so tiring to prepare for CNY (this coming from me who doesn’t even cook for the reunion dinner). We tried to shop for clothes a month in advance but it was so difficult with the two boys tagging along. They always got distracted by their surroundings especially the Lion Dance performances. This year we managed to catch the Lion Dance for more […]

Can You Make An Egg Stand?

If you never got your eggs to stand before, today is a good day to try. Egg balancing has been connected with Lichun, the solar term beginning of Chinese spring (春) though I heard that it is possible to make egg stand any other day of the year. It started with successfully making an egg stand. And then there are 6. No glue were used in the making of these standing eggs but what is even more amazing is…  We managed […]

Going To School at Night

There was one morning when Ayden woke me up before 5am! Don’t know why, he refused to go back to bed. I left him there with the Daddy while I went down to prepare Ethan’s snack box. I went back into the room 20 minutes later to see him wide awake so I thought why not bring him along to send the kor-kor to school.  Ayden got so excited when we told him that he’ll be […]

I’m a walking pineapple. Huat Ah!

Went CNY shopping last weekend. To be more precise, CNY clothes shopping. No luck though as nothing fits me. Sigh.. This is the problem if you have a big head with a little body. I end up looking like a tadpole if I wear fitting clothes or a shuttlecock if I wear loose ones. Haih!  I saw this and actually tried it on: LoL! I’m a walking pineapple! So Chinese with so much ONG! First Day of School

Wake up, wake up! It’s the first day of school! I woke up at 5.15am to fry rice for Ethan to bring to school. He is in P3 and is in the morning session this year. The father thought that fried rice with eggs and vege is not enough for his son so he added some nuts and raisins too -.- I used to sleep at 2am daily when Ethan was in the afternoon session […]

Counting down to fireworks to welcome 2016

It is our annual ritual to welcome the New Year counting down to the fireworks display at major shopping malls. I’ve been doing this with Darling eversince we were dating and continued the tradition until today. Back in those days when I was dating, we used to take the LRT to the city centre to countdown at KLCC or Dataran Merdeka. These days we don’t do that anymore. We will just drive to the malls […]

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016!

2015 has been good to us. The boys are growing up healthy and we managed to take many short trips locally.  I also managed to spend some time with my parents bringing them out exploring Melaka. LoL. I know right? We locals won’t usually go exploring our own place hence it is sometimes nice to go out as tourist to discover the gem in our own city.  My mom usually cooks for us when we […]

It’s my birthday!

I was back in my hometown again last weekend. We brought my parents to check out the latest attraction in Melaka, the 5D Art Studio When we got back home to my parents’ place in the evening, I was surprised with a birthday cake. My niece drove out to buy it for me. Yes, my niece can drive unlike me… Happy Birthday to me :) One with my parents and my niece who is taller than me […]

Planet of the Apes

I cleared my spinach patch before going for our 4D/3N trip down south last week and as soon as I got home, I wanted to start planting them again. I looked high and low for my bottle of seeds that I kept in the car porch but could not find them. I got pretty upset as my lifelong supply of spinach, sweetcorn, brinjal and many many more other seeds are in that precious bottle of […]

When the hubby is left to fend for himself

It’s the school holidays so I allow the kids to sleep in while Darling wakes up earlier to go to work. I will usually sleep in together with the boys as I always go to bed very late. Sprained my foot

A week ago, I was carrying Ayden when I heard people screaming. I looked around to discover that they are actually screaming due to the shock when they saw me fell. Only then I realised I was already slumped on the floor. I did not know how or why I fell but I found myself sitting on the floor.  I was still holding Ayden tightly. He was okay. I got up again and continued walking […]

Red Escalator

Today’s post is a little bit jakun ok. It was my first time stepping into this shopping gallery after don’t know how long. I am not familiar with this place as I’ve always thought it is too posh of a place for me. But I was here a couple of weeks ago and the first thing I see is RED CARPET welcoming ME!  Fuiyoh! Final Exam is OVER!

Ethan’s final exam is OVER! That means we are officially MERDEKA for the year. Although Ethan does his revision on his own most of the time, it does take a great teamwork to get him through the exam period because if you know us well, you’ll know that we are seldom at home. And then last minute when it is closer to exam time, I’ll rush Ethan to do his revision. He’ll have to cover the […]

Weaning Off Breastfeeding

This week has been an emotional rollercoaster. I’m over-joyed because Ayden is fully diaperless at home and also at the playground. There has been no accident for the entire week. He is able to inform me should he need to take a leak or a dump. He even suggested to go shopping without his diapers but I am not ready for that. I can’t imagine the stress of running to the loo every single hour. […]

The haze has gone into hiding and school is back on as usual. Ayden and I resumed our daily playground routine but this time we are on our own without big brother Ethan around as he is at school.  It has been a week Ayden goes without his diapers to the playground and he is doing great. I observed a funny incident though. Last time with diapers, he love to go down the slide flat […]

Oh dear. I have just noticed the last I updated my blog was on the 1st October. I better write something today otherwise it will be covered with cobweb. Back to School

After a week long of school holidays and an additional day off yesterday thanx to the haze, it is finally back to school for Ethan. The Importance of Having Patience in Parenting

It’s 2am and I can’t sleep. I watched something awful on Youtube and it is haunting me still. It’s a cctv recording of a father and his teenage son arguing. The father took out his gun, placed it in front of his son, dared him to shoot the dad but the son shot himself instead. Without even hesitating, the son took the gun and pulled the trigger. In just a fraction of a second the […]

The meaning of lantern to kids these days

When is Mid-Autumn Festival? I heard it is around the corner so we brought the kids lantern shopping today. They don’t sell traditional paper lantern anymore do they?  The first lantern that Ayden chose is the type that has sound and wheels and can move on land but I told the Daddy to get them something more ‘traditional’ as in a lantern that will only light up without those annoying sound and movement.  The Daddy […]

Towing a Roller Container

We were driving along aimlessly after dinner several nights ago when we spotted a tow truck getting ready to tow a roller container. It is actually my first time witnessing this too and I must admit I got as excited as the kids :D A roller container is a container mainly […]

It all started from one of my FB postings. My foodie friend commented something and one comment led to another and we ended up planning for a potluck. I volunteered to bring a POT since I don’t cook and suggested for Choi Yen to bring the LUCK. One of those bad days…

We brought Ayden to his weekly gym class at BeeBop Circus as usual last Saturday evening. The difference was we woke him up early and was out of the house since morning (as I had some errands to run) and headed directly to the gym at 5pm without him getting a proper nap. I thought he’ll be okay as he has been looking forward to attend this once a week class all week especially with […]

Unifi-ed but something got FRIED!

After what seems like an eternity fighting for an available Unifi port in our area, we are finally Unifi-ed last Saturday.  The cable man came and I half expected him to be like Adam Sandler in Pixels but … :P Anyway, the installation caused quite a huge mess at home. We spent the entire day cleaning up when we found this: Actually it was Darling who found it while reorganising the cables.  Do you have […]

Our Hunt For Coin-Counting Machines

It took the kids quite some time to collect this much coins: But it took us longer to find a coin-counting machine that works. Okay maybe it is only ME who does not leave the house before […]

Home Grown Spinach

I started a new hobby closer to the third trimester of my pregnancy with Ayden – growing my own vegetables. As we had tiled up the entire car porch before moving into this house, I no longer have land to plant anything and had to resort to planting in pots. When I first got started with my potted vegetable garden, I grew spinach, tomatoes, lime and okras and they strive very well especially the limes. I […]

Being Socially Active

One of the biggest sacrifice a stay at home mom does is giving up her social life. When I first gave up my job to be a stay at home mother many years ago, the thing that hit me the hardest was the lack of adult human communication and interaction. The loneliness within can really drive me up the wall. I went through a dark period where I kind of hated everything around me as […]

It’s 1st of April 2015. Things will never be the same again after today with the implementation of GST but I’m not going to talk about that as I am no expert in this issue. Coconut Water to Beat the Heat

Many people are falling ill under this torturous weather. I boil barley frequently for the family as they (especially Ethan) are getting really heaty from being out in this scorching heat. Our entire Sunday was spent doing last minute shopping for the kids and Darling. As I had completed my CNY shopping way in advance, it is now their turn to shop. Door Insulating DIY

Since Darling was bitten by a centipede in our bedroom a couple of nights ago, I’ve been a little paranoid. I can’t sleep at night fearing another creepy crawly might climb up our bed. Chinese New Year to me now is…

When I was a child, I loved Chinese New Year. I always look forward to celebrating the Chinese New Year eventhough that means travelling 5-6 hours (I think) by bus with my family back to my hometown in Malacca. A Shopping Sunday

I dread shopping. The reason being it is difficult to find stuffs my size. If you don’t already know, I am hobbit sized. I can never get dresses that fits perfectly. They are often too long. Breastfeeding a toddler

I did not manage to breastfeed Ethan for more than 3 months. By the time he was 4 months old, I fell sick, my supply dropped and I gradually weaned him off. Reunited and it feels so good.. or not?

Late last year, thanks to technology, I was reunited with my former school mates. We had a great time catching up online. These friends remember you for what you are back in school. Now, talking about […]
