Gardening with Ayden: How To Grow Your Own Bean Sprouts

Don’t you hate it when you buy bean sprouts only for them to turn bad at home just because you delayed cooking them?

You can actually grow them in an empty milk carton yourself. All it takes is FOUR days so plan your menu and grow them 4 days before in order to get fresh bean sprouts in your kitchen any time, any day.

Here is how you can grow your own bean sprouts in milk cartons in just 4 days.

We’ll need one scoop of green bean (mung bean) and an empty milk carton.

Cut small holes to drain water out.

Pour the beans into the empty milk carton.

Wet the beans. Put the carton cover back on, drain off excess water and leave aside. Water the beans at least 3 times daily.

This is the beans on Day 1

Beans on Day 4

The bean sprouts is ready on Day 4.

Simple right?

Watch this video to see how Ayden does it. He is very excited he can now grow his own bean sprouts.

I remember doing this as a kid too!

I like bean sprouts but not the rest of my families so I don’t buy it. It would be a good idea to grow the sprouts for my own consumption.

My! My! He’s growing up so fast! My girl is no fan of bean sprouts – I’m ok with it just that I hate removing the tails…and on bad days, I may come down with gout. Beans!

So so easy right? I used to do this when I was young but now I prefer making green bean desserts with them instead. Hahahaha

What a smart mother! Your 2 boys will become our future leaders of the nation! They will rise from young taugehs to become taukehs one day! LOL

Thank you for sharing this brilliant yet so easy planting as I always had headaches with so much taugehs from the supermarket when I only needed a small cupful. Thank you mummy for the tips!
