SCHOOL SHOES – WHITE OR BLACK?

I dislike last-minute shopping. I always prepare stuffs early especially when it comes to special occasions such as festive celebrations and school related items. I prefer to shop early to avoid the massive crowd closer to school reopening.

Would you believe it if I tell you that I’ve settled Ethan’s school uniform as well as school shoes for next year?

We went shopping last weekend and I am so relieved that everything is already sorted out that I need not worry anything until next year.

BLACK OR WHITE?

When we were shoe shopping, Ethan asked me if he is required to wear black shoes next year? I told him not yet as the black shoe ruling will only be enforced in 2021. He was so relieved upon hearing that as he prefers white shoes to black.

I prefer school going children to wear white shoes too as I find white shoes do not absorb heat as black shoes do. School children wear shoes for 5 to 8 hours daily. As it is now, I make Ethan change his socks daily. Imagine if he has to wear black shoes? It is ridiculous to make it compulsory for them to wear black in our scorching hot weather.

I am also worried about mosquitoes as these children go to school in the wee hours in the morning before the sun rises. Mosquitoes are most prevalent at dawn and dusk hence making school children to wear black shoes is like making them carry a mosquito magnet with them at all times. Are we not worried about dengue?

Exactly what is the reason for school children to wear black shoes? I heard it’s because black won’t appear dirty as easily as white? Who are we deceiving? Things that do not appear dirty do not mean they are clean. Just because we don’t see dirt do not mean the shoes are clean. Kids should still by right wash their black shoes as often as their white shoes yet when I asked around, some parents whom children are already wearing black shoes told me that they do not wash them because their shoes do not look dirty. The horror!  Our feet perspire. The moisture makes the shoes a breeding ground for bacteria hence it is as equally important to wash black shoes as it is to wash white shoes so can anybody enlighten me what’s the point of wearing black shoes again?

White shoes for the win! I really do hope when 2021 comes, our education minister will scrap the black shoes enforcement.

Anyway back to school shoes shopping, we always choose shoes that is light and airy for Ethan. School children are already burdened with rock heavy school bags; it is only apt to ensure their shoes are lightweight to reduce the kids’ weight burden to school.

Ethan has been wearing Pallas since Primary Two till now. He’ll be in Primary Six next year. We prefer Pallas school shoes as they are extra light in weight and well ventilated with great heat dispersion. They also lasts longer in my personal opinion as Ethan needed 3 pairs of school shoes in Primary One but reduced to only two pairs in Primary Two after he changed to Pallas Jazz. This year, he uses only ONE pair throughout the entire Primary 5!

Lil’ Ayden saw big brother shoe shopping and requested to get one for himself too so I did.

I think it is a great way to encourage and build Ayden’s interest towards school. He’ll be in Primary One in 2020 but there’s no harm in getting him a pair now. He is already wearing them proudly to his enrichment class.

The correct shoes will help kids grow well with healthy feet. For more info on proper school shoes for children, visit Pallas Malaysia FB Page

The younger ones seem to develop even faster than the older ones as they have someone to immediately aspire to be.

Black or white, it is okay with me. Depends on the wearer. He or she needs to keep clean the shoes anyway. Haha.

So fast buy shoes for next year??

Since different people have different preferences when it is about black or white, perhaps it is better to just be ok with black or white and not fixed on one colour. Although it does not look uniformed to have some children wearing black shoes and some with white shoes, it should be ok because it is only the appearance.
