Hot Pot to Share at Dynasty Restaurant, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel

Hot pot is a popular simple one-dish concept where fresh vegetables and raw meat are quickly poached in simmering pot of soup stock at the dining table. It is especially in demand on wet and cold days as nothing beats having freshly prepared hot food right in front of you on cold, rainy days. 

Hot pot is also a popular choice on any occasions no matter rain or shine when dining with family and friends as it makes a nice conversation piece, “This fish slice is so fresh”, “Do you eat prawn?”, “Which is your favourite item, little boy?” and the conversation goes on and on…

Dynasty Restaurant at RENAISSANCE Kuala Lumpur Hotel is now serving healthy and deliciously fun hot pot meals for dinners.

Hot pot is a meal for sharing where everyone cooks their own food right at the table. Freshly prepared ingredients such as thinly sliced beef, fish fillet, chicken, freshwater prawns, dumplings, wontons, eggs, tofu and vegetables are presented raw on the side. As they eat, the rising steam, bubbling broth and the sharing of food work their warming magic,” expresses Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin. 

Available daily for dinners only, diners can choose from the a la carte selection starting from RM8nett or opt for the all-inclusive set menu at RM68.80nett per person for a minimum of two (2) persons.

We were here to share a Hot Pot meal with friends last Friday evening. 

We had the all-inclusive set menu with some additional items from the a la carte selection. 

Our pick for broth that evening were herbal chicken and tom yam from the choice of herbal chicken, superior clear soup, vegetarian corn soup or tom yum. 

The nourishing herbal chicken soup fills the room with a very healthy and perk me up herbal aroma the moment the pot is being placed before us. My boys and I love this soup. I feel more alert and refreshed after my first bowl of this delicious herbal chicken soup. 

But my favourite has got to be the tom yam soup. I did not smell it earlier when the pot was sent to our table mainly because the aroma of the herbal chicken soup was stronger but once the tom yam soup started to simmer, it filled the room with its appetising sour and spicy aroma mainly made up from the scent of lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves.

Ethan got all excited and impatient to eat as the delicious aroma of herbs filled the air. 

We had only the freshest of ingredients for our Hot Pot that evening.

Let me show you some of what we had:

The Set Menu comes with these fish fillet. 

It also comes with squid.

Also from the Set Menu are these Fish Paste Balls. 

Not to be missed is this silky smooth Tofu, also from the Set Menu. 

Eggs. We can never go without eggs as these are the boys’ favourite.

Another item included in the Set Menu is these assorted fresh mushrooms much to my delight. I am a huge fan of mushrooms especially fresh ones so this suit me just fine. 

We can also choose to have either thinly sliced beef or money pouch from the Set Menu.

We chose to have the beef. All it takes is a few second of dipping these sliced beef into the hot simmering broth and it is ready to eat. So delicious, I almost wanted to order extra from the a la carte menu.

Freshwater prawns are also among the items included in the Set Menu. 

Items ordered separately from the A la Carte Menu is this Cod Fillet. 

Prawn Wonton is also from the A la Carte menu. 

And this Bean Curd for the boys. 

Three different dipping sauces to enjoy our meal with. 

The best part of our hot pot meal is towards the end when the broth has thickened and its flavor is enhanced. This also makes an excellent moment to soak in the noodles and vegetables for an epic ending!
