Hand-me-downs – Ethan’s bicycle is now Ayden’s

When Princess Charlotte wore big brother Prince George’s hand-me-down sweater recently, it broke the internet with headlines such as, “It’s so CUTE! Princess Charlotte wears big brother’s hand-me-down clothes” and many more. But then again, she IS really cute lah though I personally think George is cuter :-D

Anyway, to us commoners, it is a norm for the younger sibling to get hand-me-downs. Ayden has been wearing Ethan’s hand-me-down clothes for a while now and not even know it as they have a huge gap of 6 years so he was not born yet when Ethan was wearing all those clothes.

All the toys Ayden is currently playing at home are mostly Ethan’s too.

Now, it is time to hand-over Ethan’s bicycle to Ayden. Ethan has stopped riding this bicycle as he has outgrown it. We are supposed to get him a bigger bike but never got the time to go about it. We promised Ethan we will go bicycle hunting right after his final exam which starts this Thursday 8-O

I’ve been telling the Daddy to fix the stabilizer wheels for Ayden for ages but you know men, they’ll never get things done unless you force them. So the other day, I took the bicycle out of the storeroom and gave it a good wash till it looked like new again. I also dug out the wheels and placed them right in front of the house. That got the Daddy’s attention alright.

He took the bicycle and placed it in the car as the tyres have run out of air. He brought it to the petrol station but the pump just won’t work..

Ayden watched excitedly as he knew he is getting a ‘new’ bicycle. Since the pump at the petrol station won’t work, we brought it to the bicycle shop in our neighbourhood.

This guy gladly helped to inflate the tyre. Ayden was still very excited. Big brother Ethan made a dash into the bicycle shop to look for his bicycle. He has already set his eyes on one and we promised him we will return next week after his exam is over.

We brought the bicycle home and the Daddy fixed the balancing wheels onto the bike and it is ready to roll.

I was surprised to see how easily Ayden handles the bicycle. I was expecting to do some pushing around but this boy managed to cycle on his own almost immediately and I caught it all on video.

Watch it here if you haven’t as I’ve already shared the video on my Facebook account :-P

Haha. It’s not rosak. It’s tarak angin so I thought just go to the petrol station to get it inflated just like what I used to do in my school days but … Should have just gone to the bicycle shop, so much nearer to my house. Lol.

He is natural. Can ride a bike without help.

I love hand-me down things. Save a lot and basically all the things are yseable and some are new. Hardly use and wear. My Jamie has the most hand-me because from his sis and bro.

Ayden’s clothes, shoes, toys, books and almost everything are hand-me-downs. Occasionally we will buy him new stuffs just to be fair :D

Ours was 2 weeks ago in Bali. Kaki lemah longlai after that..

I’m surprised that you didn’t just get that balancing wheel fixed together at the bicycle shop, since already gone there. That’s what I would do…

    • //

I know we have those wheels at home so might as well use them back. Being parents is like that wan, whatever can use back, use back lah. No need to spend unnecessarily.

Ayden very pandai wo! Thumbs up!!

Ayden is so pandai to cycle so fast! Using hand-me-downs is good, can reuse things. I am now still wearing hand-me-downs clothes because I sayang to see those still good clothes nobody wants to wear anymore.
