Pesto’s – Italian food on a Thailand beach
During our recent stay at Holiday Inn Resort Mai Khao Beach Phuket, we had dinner once at their Italian restaurant – Pesto’s. We walked by this restaurant countless times as it is located strategically with spectacular views over Mai Khao Beach and the Andaman Sea . It looked so inviting with the gentle sea breeze welcoming us that we made it a point to dine here at least once and we did.

It has a clean open kitchen in full view of the guests. I can see clearly my meal being prepared by the chefs
We were given complimentary buns while waiting for our orders to be served.
As usual, Ayden will ask for fresh coconut drink. He asked for fresh coconuts throughout our stay in Phuket, Thailand.
The rest of us had fresh pineapple juice instead.
The interior of the restaurant is dim come night time. We were given this light to help us read the menu better
Kids Stay and Eat for Free** at Holiday Inn Resort Mai Khao Beach Phuket and here is Ayden’s complimentary meal. He chose the ramen noodle soup that evening.
Oven-baked sea bass fillet THB520
Big brother Ethan on the other hand was being rebellious and insisted to have the adult’s meal as he saw his favourite sea bass fillet in the menu. We had no regret ordering this as the fish was excellent. Marinated with olive-oil and baked until just opaque in the centre, it is moist and flaky with a mild, delicate flavour.
Sirloin Steak TBH 760
250gm of char-grilled sirloin steak with rosemary butter served on a bed of mashed potato, asparagus and cherry tomato. Bearnaise sauce and steak is a match made in heaven yet I had difficulty finishing this as 250gm proves to be too much for me alone as Darling and the boys did not share this with me. They only helped me polish up the mashed potato, asparagus and the cherry tomatoes.
Lamb Rack
Darling had no issue polishing this tender and succulent lamb rack served with broccoli and mashed potato.
Food are freshly made to order so do expect some waiting time before your food is served. The food here is definitely worth the wait. I have one regret though. I should have check on TripAdvisor before dining here as there are rave reviews on their pizzas. If I knew their pizzas are highly sought after, I would have make it a point to try
Anyway, the boys had ice-cream for dessert.
The ambiance here is lovely. The view is breathtaking. It was nice to have a relaxing dinner by the beach with the sea breeze accompanying us. A nice restaurant at a great location.
Feels kind of like that fine dining Tosca in Hilton Doubletree JB that I been to. Maybe their pizza is made using the same type of zesti oven…
Sobs I dunno. I should have tried when I was there :(
Note to self: When dining Italian, please order their pizza >_<
Aiyor! I go Thailand, sure want to eat Thai, not Italian.
We ate Thai. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. This was just one of the days when we had too much Thai food already so decided for a change :)
I love coconut juice.
Especially when we are on a beach holiday, it is even more delicious. Haha.
I find that you can never go wrong eating Italian food. Ayden is so smart to drink coconut juice everytime because it is so refreshing and tasty!
Yes. One of these days I’ll make sure to go to Italy for their food.. We did not manage to go to Italy during our previous Europe trip. But now will have to wait for the boys to be older first. I don’t want to bring Ayden on such a long flight.
The sea bass fillet looks so tempting and I like their description, makes it sound even more inviting

The lamp for menu reading, that’s definitely my first time see this!
