3 Drinks to Keep Us Cool on Super HOT days!
The weather is scorching hot these days and it is said to go on till March. The boys are even seen seeking shelter from the fierce sun during our daily evening playground routine.
I was waiting for Ayden to crawl out of the tunnel only to see him hide in there. I guess he discovered how cooling it is in there as opposed to the scorching hot sun.
And then there are TWO! Haiyo! That left ME out in the sun alone. I guess Mommy will get roasted soon.. >_<
I boil barley water regularly during this hot spell.
It is cheaper to boil our own barley water and is healthier than packaged versions laden with sugar and preservatives.
A small packet of barley seeds that costs only RM0.60 gives me an entire pot of barley water. A glass of barley water in the hawker centre costs at least RM2 these days.
Pandan leaves gives the barley water an added fragrance to it.
Depending on an individual’s preferance, some like to only drink the water but my boys love eating the seeds too.
Drinking barley water nourishes our body especially in this extremely hot weather. It is also rich in iron, calcium and more so drink up and keep cool :D
Other than barley, coconut water is also good to keep us cool.
It is also refreshing to have fresh watermelon juice on a hot sunny day.
Besides all of the above, we also take more showers these days; in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and even at nights!
Save water, shower with a friend! >_<
Hot there? Not raining a lot this time of year? Maybe on the east coast only then. Coconut water is very good for health, must drink regularly.
It is not just hot. It is EXTREMELY hot. We sweat again right after shower… crazy weather :(
Add some fu chuk and ginkgo to the barley then it will be even better! ;)
Oh I did but Ethan doesn’t fancy ginkgo so I keep it simple this time :)
I love to drink all the drinks you put here and I eat the barley too. I also like chinese pearl barley. Have you tried boiling chinese pearl barley water?
I love barley drink too, cooling and good for water retention :)
