Dressing up mannequin, the horror!

When Ayden was younger, he got very afraid of mannequins in the malls as they usually come without eyes, nose, mouth and all. Some even come without a head! LoL! Imagine his horror of seeing a headless person lah. Sometimes he sees mannequins without legs and that scares the heck out of him too.

Only recently he started to accept mannequins as they are; be it without a head, arms, legs or any other body parts.

Last weekend we went shopping while big brother Ethan was in school for replacement class. We happened to witness a sales promoter dressing up a mannequin.
Dressing up mannequins

Do you know how this is done? Mannequins have stiff arms that do not bend like us. They can’t bend their arms in order to get their arms into the sleeve of the shirt. What they can do is let the promoter pull out their arms, put the shirt through and fix the arms back in.

I never thought much about it until Ayden shouted to me, ‘Mummy! That kakak CABUT the man’s arm!’

mannequins

Hahahahaha! It must be a very horrifying sight for this little boy. I can see that he was terrified. But I kneeled next to him and explained that it does not hurt lah. Mannequins are not living things hence they don’t feel the pain. And I let Ayden watch until the kakak is done dressing the mannequin up and all body parts are nicely reattached.

Boy… Seriously I never know that pulling an arm off a mannequin can scare a little boy until I’ve seen in in Ayden. Thank goodness he does not have nightmares that night :D

OMG!!!! My girl, when she was small, would be so upset by the sight that she would vomit on the spot! Real traumatic these things. We do not know what may be going on in the minds of little kids. Best not to watch horror movies or tv shows till they grow bigger. Glad he did not have nightmares, didn’t turn hysterical there and then.

      Seriously Melissa was like that?

No I did not let Ayden watch any horror movies. He only watches cartoons. Cute cute ones :)

Yeah, Hern Hern also afraid of them but for me, when I was a kid, I was wondering how it looks like when the female mannequin undress…. :D

Haha I dont think there is any outlet that covers the mannequin while changing. At least not here in Msia. I always see them terlanjang bogel right smack in front of shoppers.

I never knew how to dress up the mannequin until we bought 2 children mannequins for our shop display last time..one of the mannequin still in our store room after we closed our business in May. My girls liked to pose with the mannequins when they were small..

I know how to dress a mannequin becoz i worked as a promoter for a year after my SPM before deciding what I want to do with my life.

Maybe that’s why he still cannot let go off your breast. Drinking mommy’s nen nen at least once a day calms him down a lot, I guess.

    • //

He still needs the comfort I guess. Gonna give him a few more months before we try again..

I myself am scared of mannequins even now. Good to know that Ayden does not get nightmares from this.

    • //

I’m just wondering, are you afraid of clowns? Some people do.

Ayden is okay now with the mannequin. I think he understands dy that the arms are detachable and can be fixed right back in.

  • //

Well, I felt the same when I was a kid…. now I felt different.. i feel envy when looking at these mannequins… well, they got great beach body and they always wear great and most of the time branded and expensive clothes LOL

A good educational opportunity for him indeed :)
