Guava Soup
At 21 months old, Ayden is finally bored of porridge and mushy food. He likes to eat rice with soup these days. I’m busy looking for new soup recipes to add more varieties in his diet. I was first introduced to guava soup when I was invited to a friend’s house for dinner over CNY. It was my first time drinking guava soup and I must say that it is intriguingly delicious. It is unique, refreshing and very appetizing.
The many health benefits of guava include the treatment of diarrhea, constipation, cough, cold, skin care, high blood pressure, weight loss and scurvy. It is also said to be good in preventing cancer especially prostate cancer.
I don’t remember what exactly went into the soup but I do remember seeing red dates in it so this is my version of guava soup:
Refreshingly good guava soup.
I used guava, sweet corn, red dates and pork ribs. You may replace pork ribs with other meats or bones to your fancy.
I peeled the skin, removed the seeds and dumped everything into my rice cooker before I go to bed and press SOUP and let it be until the next morning as it will automatically switched to ‘keep warm’ once it is done.
The next morning, a nutritious and delicious guava soup is ready for the boys. Season with salt to suit your taste.
Even big brother Ethan drinks a bowl of soup everyday before going to school these days as the soup helps increase blood flow and stimulates cognitive function. It also increases your brain function and sharpen your focus. Great for school going kids and those using their ‘kepala otak’ a lot at work :D

I love guava!! I always had guava nearly daily with a half slice mixed with plum powder. I also love those dried guava slices. But guava soup ? Never had before and sounds very alien to me. I wonder where can I get it outside … besides from the submerryn …hahaha…
I like to eat guava but never drink guava soup before. Do you eat the guava after drinking the soup?
