Restaurant Leng Loong Seafood, Taman Equine

This is his second restaurant I heard. My foody friends were talking about him and his restaurants. His first restaurant serves more towards spicy dishes while this second restaurant is more ‘home feel’ as the food serves here aims to bring your memory back to home.

I’ve not dine at his first restaurant (Restaurant Fu Li Lai, Bandar Puchong) but my foody friends had and when they invited me to join them to try out his latest ‘baby’ here in Equine Park, I am all go!

Leng Loong restaurant location

Newly opened at Equine Park, Seri Kembangan and already I heard he has plans for his third restaurant!

Leng Loong golden fried rice

Golden Sands Fried Rice

While we were busy deciding on what to eat, we decided to get fried rice for the kids first because they are already hungry. I’ve not had fried rice in a restaurant for a while now but I must say this is so good that we adults ended up having a couple of bites too coz it was quite a big portion for just two kids to finish.

We were then introduced to the chef who hails from Leng Loong. Leng Loong is situated in Perak, near to Kuala Kangsar. They are famous for their noodles which we were all eager to try.

Leng Loong noodles 1

The chef showed us the famous alkaline-free Leng Loong noodles that can only be found in Leng Loong Perak at the moment. According to him, they have to make frequent trips back to his hometown to get them.

He then quickly whipped up the noodles for us.

Leng Loong noodles

Tah dah! Leng Loong Homemade Noodles with prawn, pork, fish cake, vege and lots of lard. Best taken with Leng Loong special sauce. The noodles are just of the right texture and size. Not too thick nor too thin. They are well coated with sauce and the generous lard makes it very fragrant.

Leng Loong soup

Old Cucumber Boiled Soup

A rich, nourishing and hearty Chinese-style old cucumber soup with chicken feet for that added collagen. Chicken feet is also good to curing joint pain hence this dish is popular when dining with the elderly.

Leng Loong Claypot fish

Leng Loong Kong Xi Claypot Fish

Red snapper split down the middle into halves, cooked in claypot that gives that lingering fragrant aroma of ginger and golden garlic.

Leng Loong taufu pok soup

Kong Xi Tau Pok

We had this tau pok soup. Tau Pok is a a type of tofu that is deep fried until they are light and airy inside. For this the tau pok is cut in half and filled with minced meat.

Leng Loong taufu pok

Generously filled with minced meat making each piece a very filling one. I was hooked to their Leng Loong sauce and dipped this tau pok in it too.

Leng Loong chicken

Kong Xi Rice Wine Claypot Chicken

This dish was served bubbling hot before us. Can you see the bubbling gravy? I tried my best to capture the bubbles before the hot steam fogged up my phone lens.

Leng Loong

Yes, all my pictures are taken using my phone. I don’t believe in carrying a big ass camera when dining. I like to keep it as real as possible. What you see is what you’ll get.

Rice wine claypot chicken reminds me of confinement food but here, you don’t need to give birth to a child to be able to enjoy this heart warming dish. To feed a lady in confinement, old ginger is usually used as it is more potent. But because this dish here is to feed ordinary people, young ginger is used as young ginger is nicer to be eaten. Old ginger is very fibrous and does not go well with many.

Leng Loong petai

Kong Xi Stir Fried Stinky Bean

My favourite! Stinky bean is not exactly a glamourous name for these precious beans but I tell you, they are one of the best beans around. They have been proven to aid in everything from lowering blood pressure to relieving stress and warding off heartburn so yeah, what you waiting for?

From the beginning of our meal until before this dish was served, I managed to stay away from white rice but as soon as I see this stir fried stinky bean aka PETAI I just lost it. I just had to have a bowl of hot steamed rice and eat like there’s no tomorrow. The crunchiness of the bean together with the gaseous sensation erupts inside my mouth with each bite. There goes my diet…

Leng Loong prawns

Golden Salted Egg Prawn

A traditional chinese recipe of prawns stir fried with butter and salted egg giving it a golden yellow and sandy texture. A scrumptious dish to have at reunion dinners.

Leng Loong pork

Kong Xi Fried Pork

You can’t go wrong with pork belly. It is always the crowd pleaser in any party. The beautiful soft flesh with crackling crisp skin left me wanting for more.

Asam Steamed Fish

Asam Steamed Talapia

Last but not least, we have this sexy looking asam fish. Just look at it pouting its lips at you! This dish is their best seller over at their first restaurant so they are sharing it with their patrons here too.

Leng Loong dessert

For dessert we had this refreshing milk pudding. By now we are bursting at the seams and stuck to the chair we sat on…

Leng Loong CNY menu

This is their Chinese New Year menu. It is advisable to make prior bookings to avoid disappointment.

Is that the Chinese New Year menu? CHEAP!!!! SO VERY CHEAP!!! And dishes look very nice too…and no sharks’ fins! Sure makes a lot of sense to have one’s reunion dinner here than to go to those posh hotels and get slaughtered…and I’ve been to a few – their food ain’t great, not at all plus some STILL serve sharks’ fins!!!!

Ahhhhh!!!! See that shining example of the perfect father in the first pic, carrying the son. Where’s the mummy, ah? Lenggang lenggang taukeh neo… Muahahahahaha!!!!! Alamak!!! I see chicken claws!!!! Eyewwwww!!!!

    • //

Mummy’s busy taking picture of the perfect father. Hehe. Chicken claws are good source of collagen leh. Makes you look 25 again :D

  • //

I also lazy to take my camera when go out makan. Unless on special occasion. So I used my phone camera to take most of my photos. ^^

The fried rice is good and so is the noodle. A great feast you and your foodies friends had. I am drooling now.

Apalah, the owner needs help with translating his menu LOL! 广西 Kwong Sai is not Cantonese lah, Cantonese = Kwong Dong 广东, neighboring province in China. The dish style should have slight difference one..

But the price seems really not bad lah, and I love the look of that fried rice. Restaurant fried rice always best one!

  • //

Good price! Are they open for CNY reunion dinner with that menu?

    • //

Mun, I guess so. Maybe you can give them a call to check? Tq :)

    • //

Yes, we are open on the 18th Jan for family reunion. Off from the 19th till 21st then operate again from 22nd onwards. Would you like to reserve a table?

      • //

Thanks for the reply. So sad that I have already reserved a place elsewhere this year but will definitely consider eating here for CNY reunion next year as the food looks good.

  • //

The noodles look like our…kampua mee! :D
