Heart Shaped Red Traffic Light
So there we were at the traffic light at 1 Utama yesterday evening when Darling spotted this heart shaped red light.
I told him a couple of days earlier that these red hearts has been spotted around the Klang Valley recently but he just brushed me off saying it must be some prank or something until he sees it with his own eyes and starts to wonder. I googled for more info and that’s when I found out that these are the works of a so-called ‘unique, highly specialised and trained undercover artists based in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia’ under the name ‘StreetArt4Good’.
According to their FB Page, the reason why they are doing this STOP! In the Name of Love campaign is because the heart shape is a symbol everyone recognizes and signifies loved ones. To get the message across to drivers to STOP at red lights to emphasize safety of the drivers and pedestrians as they have loved ones too.
I googled further and discovered that their work is also considered as vandalism hence their artwork are always removed by the authorities.
As an artistic person myself, I applaud their effort. Drivers should really learn NOT to run a red light as it is extremely dangerous.
And here I am thinking that this has surely got something to do with Valentine’s day -.-
Have you spotted a heart shaped red traffic light yet? I consider myself lucky to be able to spot one considering I don’t spend much time on the road…
I think this is a meaningful cause. Heart shaped would not cause a problem as it shows red light.
True but if the authorities let this pass then other vandals will start creating other ‘art’ on traffic lights or on the road and that might lead to problems later on though.
If they flash suddenly, can cause heart attack too! :D :D :D
Hahahahahahaha! Good one there, Arthur!
What a comel heart shaped red traffic light.
Kan? Puts a smile on us that evening when we saw this <3
That’s what I thought at first, are these artworks legal and will the artists get into trouble with the authorities for doing it? After all, it is Malaysia that we are talking about..
That’s why. But I think they are loving it. The artists I mean. Putting this up at nights… Haha.
I also thought it’s something to do with Valentine’s Day!!
Now V-Day has passed and these hearts are still around :D
I did not even bother to find out more when I saw one in 2011. Oh so it is considered vandalism. Thanks for enlightening us on this.
Maybe I’m just too curious. My brain still works like a child. Always questioning every motives, every action. Why this, why that? Heh..
Good that you are inquisitive but the fact that you can find the answer online is amazing. I don’t think a child can find the answer so quickly and with ease. The traffic light in 2011 that I saw is still a love shaped red even now. The authority did not change it back.
I never see any :(
Quick go 1Utama. See if it is still there ;D
i saw it one day after work, after leaving that area. i pointed it to him. is unique but vandalism on the run!
Ah.. so you are lucky too to be able to catch this work of art :)
