Samsung KidsTime – The Educational Apps for Kids

It has been about a week now that we’ve been using Samsung KidsTime app on our Tab 4. In case you are wondering what Samsung KidsTime is, it is a new application for android devices which helps in managing and improving your child’s development.

Samsung KidsTime Educational Apps

Samsung KidsTime offers more than 80 applications and their contents are tailored specifically for children aged 3 to 7 years, allowing your children to learn new things using a tablet in the interactive way.

Children are most likely to use a device for over 1 hour per sitting.

Exposure to digital technology will help children to better negotiate the multi-tasking world they live in today but most parents’ main concern on kids with gadgets is too much screen time on their tab. How do you limit their time online? With Samsung KidsTime, parents can use the timer control to set the time limit prior to handing the tab to their kids.

A study done by theAsianparents.com Insights shows that 98% of children in SEA use mobile devices. As the saying goes, “If we can’t beat them, join them”. Even computer lessons are compulsory in school these days. I believe that we should not deprive our kids of technology.  Let them embrace it but with much caution and monitoring. This is where Samsung KidsTime comes in handy.

Samsung KidsTime Educational Apps Time Control

Samsung KidsTime Time Control feature makes it possible for parents to limit our children’s screen time preventing excessive time spent on the tablet.

Samsung KidsTime Educational Apps Child Profile

First and foremost, I let Ethan create his own profile in the app. He’ll use this account each time he is on the tab. With a personalised profile, I am able to get detailed report of his progress and activities on the tab.

Samsung KidsTime Educational Apps Parental Lock

The App Lock option keeps our child safe online. It prevents our children from being accidentally exposed to inappropriate content. Samsung KidsTime also comes with no in app purchases or ads ensuring no unwanted purchases made by the kids. How many times have you heard of horror stories by parents whose children made purchases online unknowingly? The heart attack you get when you receive your credit card bills is just too horrifying. No thank you, I don’t ever want to experience that!

What I like about Samsung KidsTime educational app is that it supplements Ethan’s current school curriculum.

Samsung KidsTime Educational App Progress Path

The report in Ethan’s progress path indicates what he has explored. As shown above, Ethan has been spending more time on Language, Math and Social Studies but nothing on Science and Reading. The app will automatically suggest the next games or books for him that involves Science and Reading to balance up his educational activity.

Samsung KidsTime Educational Apps usage

Ayden loves the vibrant colours and graphic of the app. He’ll usually spend a short time listening to stories or watch the big brother play games when I am in the kitchen preparing his meal.

Samsung KidsTime Educational Apps family bonding time

At night when the Daddy is home, the three of them will spend some time exploring the app while I do the housework. As for me, I’ll use these educational apps to read bedtime stories to the kids.

For those of you who use Android devices, you can download this app from the Android Market or Samsung Apps Store. In addition, Samsung offers a free subscription for a month to get a free pass to more than 80 Games and E-books . For more information you can visit their website here.
