Samsung KidsTime Apps for Kids

Remember I mentioned in my previous post that we went for a video shoot last Saturday? Well, I can finally reveal what that shoot was for :D

video shoot 1

Can you see that I was showing Ethan something on the tablet? We were actually exploring a new app by Samsung called Samsung KidsTime. Samsung KidsTime is a new application that helps in managing and improving child development.

Ethan and I were introduced to Samsung KidsTime on the recording day itself and were given some time to explore it before being interviewed for the recording. It was quite an easy task answering the questions as we found the app to be worth having as it has many unique selling points. One of it is the Child Usage Report that enables me to monitor my kids’ activities on the tab. Kids inevitably spend time in front of screens – be it they choose to, or parents use it to distract them. I for one am proud to say that I rarely distract my kids with the tab but when I do, I like to have the option of knowing what they do with it.

KidsTime time control

Time is also a factor when Ethan is using the tab. I usually limit his usage to not more than an hour preferably with a short break in between. But sometimes when I am busy, we both overlooked the time and he ended spending an hour or more continuously on the tab. With KidsTime, I can use the timer function to set the time prior to handing him the tab.

What I find interesting about the app is also the fact that it has no ads and in app purchases making it safe for children to browse freely.

I’ll go into details about the app in a separate post but before that I would like to thank Samsung Malaysia for presenting Ethan with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 so we can explore the KidsTime app further together.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 that was given to us comes fully loaded with lots and lots of games and e-books from Samsung KidsTime. After all, the app has 80 games + E-books with monthly updates by curated publishers. Imagine having a virtual library at your fingertips. We are going to have so much fun exploring all these games and stories together. You can browse Samsung KidsTime web for further info.

I attended the Samsung KidsTime official launch yesterday, 30 October 2014 at Menara Kuala Lumpur (KL Tower). I also checked out the FSK 2014 Children’s Literature Festival (Festival Sastera Kanak-Kanak) that is happening from 30 October to 2 November 2014 at the same place (Menara Kuala Lumpur) from 10am to 6pm every day. It is open to public.

Day 1 Activities Schedule

I attended the “Communicate With Your Child Through Story Telling” session by Beatrize Montero from Spain.

bedtime story

I needed to learn to tell better bedtime story because the last time I tried, Ayden ended up unable to sleep throughout the night -.-

I also stayed for the Pop-Up Book tutorial by Allonzo Abu Bakar. It will be an interesting activity to make a pop-up book with the kids this coming school holidays.

Talking about story-telling, KidsTime app has E-Books that can be used as bedtime stories with the kids.

KidsTime E-book

Besides games, there are also books for the kids. How awesome is that?

Samsung KidsTime E-book

There are so many books to choose; from the FREE range to FAVOURITE or even CLASSIC books and more!

Samsung KidsTime E-book Read and Play

Kids can choose to get the tab to read to them or they may want to read the book themselves. If they are up for an adventure, they can choose Read & Play for an interactive story telling session.

Samsung KidsTime E-book Read and Play Animation

Ayden loves it when I read to him from the E-book as he loves the animated display. It takes story- telling to a whole new level.

I’ve gone through quite a number of educational apps and found Kidstime to be one of the best apps for kids. It is even suitable for toddlers. I use it a lot when I am in the kitchen whipping out a quick meal for Ayden and needs to keep the kids occupied.

Stay tuned for my detailed review of the app real soon. Meanwhile, you can download and check out the full description and reviews here or visit http://www.samsungkidstime.com

I tried reading from ebook in iPad but always interrupted by Jamie so I decided no more story telling. Lol. Just games and interactive learning tool for him but always landed in the hands of older siblings.

Look forward to more reviews from you. This Samsung app sounds interesting.

Haha. Maybe when you have a one to one session with Jamie you can try reading to him again. Or maybe get the korkor to read to Jamie. That will be so nice :D

Sure. I’m still playing around with the app to check out its full potential. Once I get it all listed down, I’ll write a proper blog post :)

Hahhhh!!!! So nice, got these gadgets now. My girl’s time…I had to tell her stories bedtime every night. Once, I told her a story of a greedy princess who choked on a chicken bone…she was so frightened/shocked/disgusted she vomitted all over the bed. Tsk! Tsk!

When can see the video? Will be on youtube?

LoL! OMG I can visualize the mess! I once told Ethan about the Boy Who Cried Wolf and he cried himself to sleep thinking about all those sheep that died being eaten by the wolf >_< But Ethan loves the stories on this app. He likes reading them to Ayden and that lil boy loves to look at the animation. But sometimes I still like to read to Ethan though and he still enjoys listening to me reading. I better enjoy this while it lasts ^_^
