Gartien Pineapple Cakes – Mid Autumn Edition

During the Mid Autumn Festival last year, I was trapped at home doing my confinement as I just delivered Ayden then. I ranted a lot on Facebook on me missing out on all those mooncake makan-makan with friends that some of my caring friends took the initiative to send some to my house. I was really happy receiving all those goodies then.

Today, I received a box of Gartien Pineapple Cakes from a friend in Penang. He remembered people sending me mooncakes last year but can’t recall the reason why. He know it will cheer me up again and decided to send not mooncakes but pineapple cakes just to be different and stand out from the rest! LoL! Though I am no longer in confinement and can run about freely already it is still nice to be receiving gifts for Mid Autumn :D

OK poor thing. Little Ayden is not allowed to eat this as I have yet to introduce pineapple to him. Let’s hope my friend will send me this again next year during Chinese New Year as Gartien always have Chinese New Year Pineapple Cakes edition too and by then Ayden will be able to eat this :D

Gartien 小田佳园, a Penang based confectionary famous for their delicious gourmet pineapple cakes, has limited edition Mooncake festival packaging, ideal as gifts on this auspicious occasion.

Each pineapple cake is rolled up in a rectangular pillow of light, buttery dough encasing the delicious pineapple filling. The melt in the mouth crumbly dough gives a burst of fragrant buttery goodness. A bite deeper and the tangy pineapple filling will tease your tastebud. So good, so delicious, so satisfying!

Ethan alone can eat at least 3-5 of these pineapple cakes at one go. It’s so addictive that he just can’t stop. It’s the same with me and we ended up finishing this in just a day!

You like kah? One bakery in Sibu makes these too, very nice – for one thing, it’s cheaper (RM1.50 each) than in Bintulu (RM2.40). If I’m not wrong, the one you got, even more expensive.

This gartien pineapple cake is really gourmet, RM4.5 per piece, even more expensive than those very tasty brand of Taiwan pineapple cakes. Very good clear photos you have taken! I can see the pineapple paste having real pineapple fibers in them and very sticky. Is it very sweet the paste?
