School Injury Insurance Claim

Ethan was involved in an accident in school recently. A student knocked into him at the staircase causing an injury to his head. The student (Year 5) carried Ethan into the office for initial treatment. The school’s person-in-charge then called Ethan’s father to take him for further check-up.

The father brought him to our family doctor where his wound was checked and cleansed.

claiming insurance from school

I’m not sure if it was the doctor or the teacher who suggested for us to claim compensation back from the school insurance.

I think it was the doctor as I remembered Darling calling the school to request for the Student Accident Claim Form.

how to claim insurance

Ethan’s teacher gave him this form and he brought it home for us to fill it up. What we were not aware of though was that we are supposed to get the doctor to write his diagnosis on the back of the receipt to prove the validity of that receipt. Hence we had to make our way back to the clinic.

Once the doctor has written his diagnosis together with his signature and stamp, we are all good. Ethan submitted his claim form today. Let’s see how long it takes them before we are reimburse.

Now schools requested all students to buy insurance. That the purpose of the insurance. :)

    Glad Ethan is alright now.

D=. I know you mentioned that he was injured but I didn’t know there was blood. D= But good job to the student for being responsible and even carrying him to the office. Glad that he’s ok. =)

Owh, i know that insurance and that form. Usually the school includes that into the fees.

Schools collect that Takaful insurance. Parents always complain about having to pay it – they should be happy they have no reason to claim – actually, they can. Have to red the fine print though. For one thing, schools should make it clear what they are paying and why. Many do not know.

Oh dear, poor Ethan, did he cry?

    Hopefully it’s nothing serious…

Wow, the Std. 5 boy could carry Ethan? Was he crying badly? Hope the would has totally healed now. And hope he is not traumatized by this incident.

mak oi, that’s a bad injury, i can still see blood on his head.. but then at least can claim insurance, and i am also impressed that they now have school injury insurance!! how commercialized the society is now..

and i wanted to add.. kudos to Merryn, though Ethan is hurt by other students, the mother did not publicly criticize and scold that student like a crazy woman (you know who).. we are all civilized people mah, we know nobody wish for accidents to happen right??
