Ethan’s public drum presentation in Sunway Giza
Remember Ethan’s first drum lesson two months ago? I blogged about him and his handsome teacher here.
This was his first drum practice at home after his lesson:
A couple of days ago, Sunway Giza was looking for kids to perform on their Christmas decorated stage next week and Ethan’s drum teacher asked him if he would like to give it a try. Ethan agreed immediately as it has always been his dream of performing on stage.
I asked his teacher if he thinks Ethan is ready (since he just started drumming 2 months ago) and he said, YES!
The drum teacher and the school has been very helpful and supportive to the point that they set up a drum set at the school (according to Ethan’s height) and left it there just so Ethan can practise any time he wants until he feels comfortable with the set. Unfortunately we are tied down with a project at the moment and Ethan is unable to go practise as often as he wished but we will be able to bring him there to practise again by next Wednesday.
He will be performing 3 pieces from Trinity Guildhall Drum Grade 1.
I’ve shared the video of him playing one of the 3 pieces:
And this is him, practising in the drum school today without the play-along music:
This is a very big milestone for Ethan as it will be his very first public performance. I won’t know how he’ll react to the crowds and the noise as he has not even been to a school concert before.
We are doing our best not to put any pressure on him and kept reminding him to just have fun.
Ethan will be performing for 4 days
Date: 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd December 2012.
Venue: Sunway Giza (opposite Full House)
Time: 12noon-1pm (anytime during that hour)
William and I will definitely be there to support him. Unfortunately his drum teacher won’t be able to make it as he is tied up with classes and performances.
Do drop by if you are around the area. It will mean a lot to him no matter what the outcome is. We can’t guarantee he’ll perform well but what matters most is the experience he’ll gain from this performance.
Wow! So fast can perform already? Not bad eh? So now he’s more into drum or piano? : D
I think still both at the moment. The school did ask him if he wants to play the piano on stage though, but he refused, saying drum alone is enough for now :D
I can’t be there but my heart and support will be with Ethan.
He is doing great so far, bravo!
Ethan will be performing alone for the 4 days?
Joanne,
There will be others I guess but for his slot, he’ll be performing alone.
Thank you for your support :)
Ok, at least he will have other friends which will be performing on the same stage with him.
Hope Ethan will be fine.
Anyway, its still a great exposure and experience for him.
wah! he not shy in public? xD if i perform my hands will shake sia
I won’t know as he has never performed on stage in public before *nervous*
Wah wah wah, both you and Ethan must be very excited!
Good luck to Ethan! Jia you jia you~
Wow
have fun and tell him dun kan cheong ok? XD
Nothing is cuter than a boy performing the drum set… I’ve just watched Elonoe Budiman on youtube and I think the little ones on the drum is way cuter than on any other percussion. Maybe I’ll go drop by and check Ethan out if I am around. You are doing such a good job with him.
fuyooo, new rock star! haha :P
Hey congratulations to Ethan! I’ll buzz you if I’m there one of the 4 dates. All the best! :D
Wow! That’s great. My daughter’s teacher used to tell us, “Go with no expectation.” Enjoy!
Well done!
