Elephant Ride, Singapore Zoo

The last time we were in Singapore 2 years ago, we went to the Night Safari. We got to see animals in the dark but we never get to experience the beauty of Singapore Zoo as it was too dark.

This time around, we visited the Zoo during the day and I must say that I’m pretty impressed with Singapore Zoo. None of the animals (especially monkeys and orang utans) are in a cage! They all have their own nice and cosy enclosure but none in pitiful cages like the one we have here in our country :( The orang utans in Singapore Zoo are even free ranged! They dangled above us like we are one of them!

Anyway, I’m not going to touch much about the zoo today but rather would like to share one of the activities Ethan and Darling did in Singapore Zoo.

The story goes like this, we originally wanted to travel up North to Thailand this time around as Ethan has been pestering us to bring him for elephant rides. BUT, I’m not game to go there and I believe there won’t be much to excite Ethan too. After much ding, ding, dang, dang we finally decided on Singapore, AGAIN!

Ethan fed elephants not too long ago in Zoo Negara, KL so this time around, he is adamant to RIDE it!

Elephant Ride @ Singapore Zoo

Elephant Ride Singapore Ticket Price and Schedule

The elephant ride tickets are only sold during the said sessions so don’t bother to ask them if we can buy earlier as they’ll answer you with a growl that tickets are only sold during sessions (while pointing to that signage!) As much as I love Singapore Zoo, I’m really pissed with the lack of courtesy from their staffs.

Elephant Ride tickets

So we got us 2 tickets; one for Darling and another for Ethan. I don’t know why they’d want to separate the kids and adults ticket since they both cost the SAME! >_<

I did not go for the ride as I am the appointed photographer (the truth is I’m so scared of elephants that I might pee in my pants but let’s not let Ethan know about it, shall we?).

Since they’ll take 5 pax per ride, Darling got 3 kids who are riding without their parents to join Ethan.

The kids got super excited when they saw these two elephants approaching.

We saw them fixing the seat onto the elephant.

Ethan just can’t wait to ride on the elephant.

Can you see how happy Ethan is after finally getting his elephant ride? He told me later the first thing that caught his attention was the elephant’s flapping ear and when I look at this pic, true enough, he is looking at the ear! :D

And so the elephant took them for a ride..

Around the corner..

The kids enjoyed the brief elephant ride.

And then it’s over and the kids all came down jumping excitedly in front of me telling me how thrilled they are!

Rode on an elephant once in Bangkok, but would have second thoughts now after seeing an elephant gone crazy in India bashing and stampeding the innocent riders. It was a horrifying video not meant for faint heart.. Elephant Gone Crazy

I been there last May,but never try the elephant ride, bit smelly when we walked pass by the elephant section.

I have tried that before at Bangkok and Chiangmai. Perhaps I am too old to enjoy the elephant ride, I don’t really like it. Hehehe!
