Don’t procrastinate

I spent most of my schooling days in Sitiawan, Perak. I lived in a rented home in Taman Hijau, Sitiawan where we had GREAT neighbors. Everybody knows everyone else by their names. My immediate neighbor was my parents’ friend even before they got married. They were all in the Navy then. Taman Hijau was our very own Wisteria Lanes…

My family moved out of Taman Hijau when I was in college to resettle in their hometown, Malacca upon getting their very own house to call their home. That was the last time I stepped foot in Sitiawan. I missed my school friends dearly each time I see them posting pics of gatherings during the Chinese New Year or Christmas. I can never be there.

Nevertheless, a number of my neighbors still made it to my wedding reception and also of my sisters’. They traveled all the way down to KL to attend the wedding of this little girl that grew up right before their very eyes.

We have this immediate neighbor whom Darling fondly referred to as ‘bicycle auntie’ as she is always seen cycling EVERYWHERE! She’s the picture of Mother Earth as you’ll rarely see her in the car. She’ll cycle to Manjung or where ever her bicycle can take her except KL! I’ll always remember her cycling and stopping using her feet instead of the hand brakes ^_^

The last I met her was during my cousin’s wedding in Malacca. Yes, she traveled all the way down to Malacca to attend that wedding. It’s great that she attended all my sis and my wedding but it’s even greater that she attended my cousin’s wedding! That was November last year…

Her daughter was my classmate. She is now residing in KL. My parents have been pestering me to arrange with her for a meet-up with her parents as my parents have been missing them dearly. We tried to arrange several times but somehow the timing is just not right. Or so it seems…

This morning, I got a call from my former neighbor informing me of the demise of her mother. Her voice broke into tears the moment she informed me. I almost dropped my phone. We had been trying to arrange for a meet-up for our parents but I guess I did not try hard enough. There’s always something that kept us from actually realizing the meet-up and now…

Time and tide waits for no man. We’ll never know…if tomorrow never comes. If there is something you have to do, do it!

Yupe. I have the same regret. Once was for a classmate who was studying in Singapore. Wrote a letter and never got it sent. Found out later that he hung himself due to depression and stress! Could not forgive myself. Another time was a letter I wrote to my dad working in Libya. As usual, didnt sent it. He did not make it back for his holiday that year. He was killed in a car accident enroute to the airport on the way back for his quaterly holiday. I still have nightmare over it….sigh…

I feel so sorry to hear that. But Merryn, this is indeed a very good reminder to all your readers. We have to do what we think we should do, and waits no more. Thanks for the post.

I watched spy kids 4 yesterday. It wasn’t a good movie but the theme was good. It was about time and to spend time with love ones now, not later or it might be too late.
