Dim Sum Galore @ Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant, One World Hotel

If you know me well you’ll know I’ll never sacrifice my sleep to go for Dim Sum breakfast. Countless times my friends planned for an early dim sum but I always decline as sleep is very important to me. Already I am sleep deprived, I won’t make it worse by waking up extra early just to eat -.-

Zuan Yuan, One World is having a dim sum lunch promotion from 1 March – 30 April 2012 so we took this opportunity to indulge in a hearty dim sum buffet LUNCH!

We woke up at 10am and by 12.15noon happily walked into Zuan Yuan, One World.

Browsed through the Dim Sum menu and we are drooling already!

First of all, we are to choose from either ONE of these THREE – Braised Shark Fin’s soup with Crab Roe, Seafood Noodle and Steamed seafood dumpling with superior stock and shark’s fin for these three are the ONE TIME ORDER only items.

We decided to take one each coz there are 3 of us what… :D

So Darling had the Braised Shark Fin’s soup with Crab Roe and shared it with Ethan.

I had the Seafood Noodle. Exactly similar as Sang Har Meen with the exception of freshwater prawn. The noodles are crisp and crunchy when served.

While my soup loving boy had the Steamed seafood dumpling with superior stock and shark’s fin. He loves this a lot and had the entire bowl to himself -.-

Once we are done with that, we started on our dimsum feast with those unlimited order items! To get the ball rolling, we ordered the more well-known varieties first such as the har gao.

Steamed prawn dumpling. Say dimsum and these wonderful translucent shrimp dumplings will surely come to mind. The shrimps pop in my mouth proving how fresh they are and I’m beginning to love the dimsum here.

Steamed scallop dumpling. I thought the har gao are good but the steamed scallop dumpling is better!

Filled with scallop and shrimp, these basketful of scallop dumplings disappear before our very eyes very quickly! We had multiple orders of this.

The Steamed Shark Fin’s dumpling is good too.

And then came all these siu mai items : Steamed Glutinous Siu Mai, Steamed Teo Chew Siu Mai and Zuan Yuan Style Steamed Siu Mai with Flying Fish Roe

I especially ordered the glutinous siu mai as Ethan is a Loh Mai Kai monster and though this is good, that boy insisted to have his loh mai kai the traditional way, served on a plate like an island -.-

So we had to order this ala carte Loh Mai Ngap. This is not included in the buffet. They used duck strips instead of chicken and multi grains glutinous rice instead of the normal glutinous rice. Served with chicken floss on the side, this makes a very filling dish yet Ethan managed to eat half of it! I hope he does not get bloated from that much glutinous rice!

While he was having that, we continued our brunch with the unlimited order of baked and fried items.

Oven Baked Mini Egg Tart with Caramel and Cinnamon is delicious. It melts in my mouth and though they cut it in halves for easier indulgence, I had the entire thing nontheless and more in fact! I did not realised they have cinnamon in it though.

Oven-Baked Cheese Tart. Ethan and I are cheese lovers so when I saw this in the menu I told Darling we have GOT to try it! And I’m glad I did for it oozes out delicious creamy cheese when bitten. Best taken while hot as that is when you can maximize the cheese effect! :D

Deep Fried Prawn Dumpling with Salad Dressing. Need I say more? One look and we know we’ve got to have this too!

Oh but the Taro Dumpling Wu Kok Style with Scallop and Miso Sauce NEEDS special mention! I’ve always loved Wu Kok but this is BEYOND love! There’s just something different about that golden brown pastry and the yam fillings. Could it be the miso sauce? It’s very intriguing that I kept on taking bites of this to try figuring it out but failed. It’s a MUST order item together with that scallop dumpling I mentioned earlier.

And there are these Flaky Barberque Char Siew Pastries, Deep Fried Sesame Ball with Peanut Paste, Bean Curd Roll too. By now I’m already 99% stuffed!

But there’s more! Stir Fried Turnip Cake with XO Sauce, Hong Kong Style Chee Cheong Fun are my regular comfort food especially in the cold evenings.

Look at what I had…

Not ONE, not TWO plates.. But these:

Over-flowing dimsum on our table!

Because ..

They are having this Buy 4 Free 1 Dim Sum Galore if you are a ONE CARD holder. Of course I have ONE CARD lah! One Utama is my SECOND home! :D

Buy 4 Free 1, Buy 4 Free 1 equals to TEN of us that day!

After having all of the above, we finish off with the ever so inviting Chilled Aloe Vera infused with Lemon Grass to digest it all. The lemon grass jelly is yummy to my tummy and Ethan can’t get enough of the chilled aloe vera cubes.

Darling loves this refreshing Double Boiled Crystal Pear with Fresh Ginseng and shared this with me as he said we girls should have more of this! Aww… :D

Glorious Dim Sum Galore @ Zuan Yuan (1 March – 30 April 2012)

Don’t forget ONE CARD member gets to enjoy Buy 4 Free 1 Offer for Dim Sum Galore in March and April.
