Italian Tomato, Bangsar
Italy. When it comes to Italy, the first thing that pops up in my mind is their lyrical, romantic Italian men. Ooops! Did I just say that out loud? I mean the first thing that crops out in my mind is their thin crusted pizza burning over an open woodfire oven :P
You don’t get that easily these days as many eateries boast to be Italian but have their pizzas electronically baked instead.
So when I heard that Italian Tomato has just that – a beautiful woodfire oven, Darling and I (with Ethan in tow) quickly made our way there one fine evening.

Happy Hour- 5pm – 9pm
Landmark ~ between Toyota showroom and Indian temple (before Petronas). This used to be known as Gaja.
It was already after 8pm that day when we dropped by so you can imagine how famished that little boy is. Darling quickly ordered macaroni and cheese for Ethan before slowly deciding what we will have.
Macaroni E Formagi (RM15). Classic macaroni with cheese. When this was served we all chuckled as it looks pretty cute with the macaroni nestled nicely in a shallow curved plated. I soon found out that the plate is also used as their soup bowl :D Ethan loves this cheesy stuffs and had the entire plate to himself!
As we are quite hungry too but still couldn’t decide what to order, Darling ordered mushroom soup to fill up our tummy a little.
Creama Di Funghi (RM14) – Delicious homemade cream of mushroom soup. I enjoyed chewing the generous bits of mushrooms in it.
Finally Darling made up his mind and ordered pizza! I was like ‘screaming’ to Darling telling him that we have GOT to order pizza as that is the sole purpose of me coming here!
Excitedly I went over to their open stove to watch my pizza being made from scratch.
Ahhh… Can you see my pizza sitting nicely next to the woodfire? It’s so nice to be able to see our food being prepared right in front of our eyes :D
I guess I wasn’t the only one enjoying it as someone else has also developed that habit of photographing food during meal time! -.-
Look who is fighting to secure that job of becoming my official photographer? :P
Ding ding! Our pizza is done! Consists of all our favourite ingredient: Tuna, onion, tomato, anchovy and topped with lots of mozzarella cheese. Simply love the slightly charred edges of the crust. Yum yum!
Darling ordered the Pan Grilled Salmon Fillet (RM36) too. He loves basil so the pesto sauce and vegetable caponata goes well with him.
I was in a dilemma if I should order my another all time favourite, the lasagne. It took me hours to decide and finally after Darling and Ethan finished their meal, I made up my mind to try their lasagne! Yeah I know, you can imagine the look Darling gave me :P
I did not regret ordering this as the lasagne is generously layered with beef and tomato paste, Garfield will definitely agree to this!
The waitress also suggested for us to try their signature drink – the Sangria. A concoction of mango, strawberry, lime, red wine with a dash of brandy this is definitely a winner! Darling who doesn’t fancy mocktails (don’t mention cocktails) gave a surprise thumbs up for this. Fuh! At RM26 per serving, I think this is alright! I’ll come back here just for this I tell you! Ok-lah, the pizza and lasagne will get my repeat orders too :D
Kesian the little boy, so we ordered Chocolate Milk Shake and Apple Juice for him. Sugar high that boy…
I had their homemade gelato before we go home. The flavour of the day was Mocha. By now we are all bursting at the seams.
A family pic for the album.
Note to Darling: Valentine’s day is coming and I won’t mind if you bring me here again :D
the thick cheesy cream on the macaroni looks simply irresistible! :) im a big fan of cheese too
