Starbucks Card Grand Launch Party

I’ve always been a fan of Starbucks. Not that I take coffee though. I only take their Chocolate Cream Chip and that’s it. But I can seriously take LOTS of THAT!

Anyway, where were you on the 11.11.11? Everybody is making such a big deal out of that date. As for me, I was at the Starbucks Card Grand Launch Party.

Starbucks Card is a stored value cum loyalty card that provides Starbucks aficionados with rewards and benefits such as enhanced speed of transaction, greater convenience, a gifting option, brand association and the alternative to check balance online.

Starbucks Card Grand Launch Party

People started queuing as early as 4pm to be the first 100 in order to get the complimentary pre-loaded Starbucks Card worth RM20!

Well, we got our complimentary cards as we are among the invited guests.

Canapes going around the entire night.

Gila Battle Crew entertaining the crowd

Alan Bligh did a great job emceeing that night. Here’s one of the lucky draw sessions. They’ll ring your number to inform you if you are the lucky chosen ones. As usual, I’m never THAT lucky. My fon is like a nerd back in high-school. No ring.. no ring :(

Ramli entertained the crowd with some smooth sax

What horrifies me during the Grand Launch Party was the lack of crowd control. When Alan Bligh announced that food is now served to the invited guests, the CROWD rushed into Starbucks for FOOD! Bare in mind that they have pastries and canapes going around OUTSIDE at the party area for public YET they still rushed inside for food supposedly for invited guests. It was a horrible, horrible sight that we invited guests can only stare in disbelief! All it take is ONE false step to start a stampede!

I got so disgusted that I told Darling to go else where to eat. It is so not worth it to go inside to join the battle for FOOD!

Ethan clung on to me tightly when the crowd started to rush in for FOOD! I saw Promoters from nearby boutiques running inside to get food! OMG! People please!!

After dinner, Darling coaxed me to go back there to see what else is happening and I saw them playing a game of “Bite Me if You Can” with 3 winners walking away with pre-loaded cards worth RM100 each.

Dina performed a few numbers. She is good. I enjoyed her performances.

And then it is the official launch of the Starbucks Card.

That’s the cue that we should just be at home enjoying the night in front of the TV rather than battling it out here with the crazy crowd. They might have ‘Gila Battle Crew’ entertaining the crowd that night but I’m not so gila to tolerate the endless shoving, pushing, pulling and banging..

No I’m not diva-ing it out. It’s just not a suitable scene to have my kid with me in that unruly crowd…

Its true, they should have the event gated at certain areas to ensure the safety of invited guests. Too many people got themselves 'invited' all of a sudden and I didn't bother trying to eat anything off the served table because people were pushing me. Almost fell down and hit my camera lens on the stairs. :(

Can't blame the organisers… Criwd too big PLUS typical Malaysian kiasuness – sometimes so ashamed to see…. Even among teachers in my school last time, like they're so uncivilised and they've never eaten before. These things, sole purpose to promote their business. If so crowded and messy, I would just go home.

P.S. Is that Alan Bligh? Omigawd!!! Mid-life crisis kah he?

Since a lot of them are single youngsters, so they can afford to rush in like that. After all, it's FREE.. hehe.

this well depict malaysians…but then…the organizers should do something about it…letting public to interfere with invited guests' privileges is very unprofessional

Thank goodness Ethan was not hurt! I still think its a badly organized event. If it is only meant for Media, it should be closed off properly.

Looking at the crowd, seriously I would rather stay at home watching TV. I hate crowded place now, may be due to aging process.
