Aladdin The Musical @ Sunway Lagoon : Gala Premiere

After the huge success in bringing Peter Pan and Magical Musicals to our shore @ Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre, we are privileged to catch yet another West End production - Aladdin The Musical.

We were there for the Gala Premiere and what can I say? After enjoying Peter Pan last Christmas and Magical Musicals back in June this year, I have got to say Aladdin the Musical is the BEST of them all! A timeless tale told with a modern twist. I love that they use current top hits to tell the story. We can so relate to the songs that were performed tonight namely ‘Billionaire’ and ‘Marry You’.

We are first taken to the marketplace of Askabar where Aladdin ‘flew’ in from the crowd. It was a spectacular surprise!

The stage is simply beautiful.

In one of the scene, Aladdin is taken to the dungeons where Jafar, disguised as an old man, helps him escape and in return, Aladdin has to enter the Cave of Wonders to get the Magical Lamp.

In the dungeon, *Spoiler alert* The crowd burst out laughing when Aladdin said, “How can I trust someone who looks like Simon Cowell?” when Jafar negotiated the deal with him! EPIC!

Ethan is afraid of the Cave especially when it opens its mouth but sat through till the end

The cheeky Genie steals the show; singing and dancing to Lady Gaga, Wonder Girls and more each time he made his appearance.

It was a wonderful night that I wish won’t end so soon but good things must come to an end..

My verdict?

The BEST so far. Highly entertaining I won’t mind watching this again as Aaron (CEO of Sunway Lagoon) puts it, it can only get better from here.

Oh yeah, did I tell you? It is also in 3D! So get the glasses ready and watch this in 3D in Act Two.

Aladdin The Musical will be playing at the Amphitheatre @ Sunway Lagoon from November 25th, 2011 until January 2nd 2012.

The musical will show once a day, from Sunday to Friday at 8:00pm (no show on Tuesdays), and twice on Saturdays at 7:15pm and 9:15pm with extra shows on 25th December 2011 (Sunday) and 1st January 2012 (Sunday) at 7:15pm and 9:15pm.

Ticket prices range from RM300, RM250, RM200 and RM100 for adults and RM150, RM120, RM100, and RM50 for children up to 12 years old.
