How to make drop earrings
After learning how to make charm bracelet with Angie of Kelvin Gems the other day, we got the opportunity to learn how to make drop earrings this time around. DIY my own earring?! I’m so excited!
Materials needed:
* 2 headpins
* 2 earwires
* beads of your choice
* spacer beads (These are very small metal-colored beads that serve to frame the other beads)
* nose pliers
* wire cutter
We’ll need a headpin and pearls, beads or whatever you want your earring to be made of.
Insert the beads into the headpin. Experiment with different colors and styles. In this picture, spacer beads are used to frame the bead.
Bend the headpin 90 degrees.
Use a round nose pliers to make a loop
Shape the loop around the round-nosed pliers
Complete the loop
Use a wire cutter to cut off the excess headpin
One half of my earring is done
I insert a silver bead into another headpin and made a complete loop at the end using the round-nosed pliers.
There, the complete loop on one end of the headpin.
Make another complete loop
As shown in the picture above.
Use wire cutter to cut off the excess headpin and I got this
Connect it to the other half.
Close the loop tight to secure it. Make sure that you open/close your links from side to side so you don’t weaken them.
Repeat the entire process to make another earring to get a pair of beautiful drop earrings.
There! My very first DIY drop earrings! I’m so loving them! <3
