Tokyo Street @ Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur

After eating xiaolongbao yesterday, we went to Tokyo Street at Level 6, Pavilion. Tokyo Street is the newest precinct at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, merging the traditional elements and modern facets of Japan’s dynamic culture and ambience.

Tokyo Street @ Level 6, Pavilion

Ethan undecided at Tokyo Street :P

With so many things to see and do, we can’t decide to start with the right or the left lane. Finally we took the right lane and started with Kenji..
Giant Lantern

I love this gigantic lantern in the middle of Tokyo Street. Simply awesome!

Tanabata Festival?

According to japan-guide.com, Tanabata, also known as the “star festival”, takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year, when, according to a Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega, which are usually separated from each other by the milky way, are able to meet.

Because the 7th month of the year roughly coincides with August rather than July according to the formerly used lunar calendar, Tanabata is still celebrated on August 7th in some regions of Japan, while it is celebrated on July 7th in other regions.

One popular Tanabata custom is to write one’s wishes on a piece of paper, and hang that piece of paper on a specially erected bamboo tree in the hope that the wishes become true.

Tanabata wish card

I saw one very cute wish with a picture of a cat attached to it :D

Zen Bonsai

Bonsai is the art of dwarfing trees or plants and developing them into an aesthetically appealing shape by growing, pruning and training them in containers according to prescribed techniques. I saw lots of beautiful bonsai at Zen Bonsai.

Japanese Dolls

Japanese Dolls

At Japan Gift & Souvenirs, I saw many japanese dolls with very fine workmanship. It reminded me of my trip to Japan years ago where I bought 4 Japanese Dolls. They are very costly then but I did not check if the dolls sold here is reasonably priced or not.. sowwie!

Matsuri Mart

Matsuri Mart and Daiso are situated next to each other. These are the two places that I won’t dare to enter as once in, I’ll be sure to empty my purse!

 Tokyo Street, Pavilion

Santouka Hokkaido Ramen

One thing that is synonym with Tokyo Street has got to be this Santouka Hokkaido Ramen. It is like as if the whole purpose of going to Tokyo Street is just to dine here. The queue here is super long yet it did not deter others from contributing to form an even longer line!

Beautiful girl

What is nice at Tokyo Street is the girls at the stalls do their best to look as Japanese as possible. Darling’s dream come true! :D

Tokyo Street is a must go if you are in Kay El. It is a mélange of traditional townscape and modern scenery, arts, culture and food trends. The urban shopping experience will never be the same again.

Everybody's talking about it. All things imported from Japan? The food? Ok or not? Safe from radiation? I think they have not solved the nuclear problem yet – still asking people to move away but some simply refuse.

    • //

Yeah I read about the presence of radiation in the children's urine samples… so so sad.. :(
