How to make mooncake?
In my entire life, all I know is to EAT mooncake. Never in my mind did I imagine that one day I’ll have the opportunity to make my own mooncake, until today that is
Today, I got the golden opportunity to learn how to make mooncake at West Lake Garden, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

The dough, the fillings and the tools needed to make mooncakes.
Flattening the dough. It was awkward in the beginning..
But I made it like a pro moments later
This is the filling. I have to make a hole in it to place a second filling.
There, 2 becoming 1
All nicely wrapped and round
This is the tough part. Covering the now enlarged fillings with the now seemed too small dough!
Gathering the edges to enclose the fillings and then pinch to seal.
Placing the filled packet in the mold, gently pressing to fit.
Invert and remove the mold.
Tah-dah! NICE! My very first mooncake is not bad at all! Beautiful!
There! Isn’t it beautiful?
And then comes the acid test… to see if my mooncake is truly beautiful, the chef is going to cut it to let me see how it looks inside. Yikes!
Jeng jeng jeng! NOT BAD wei! I’m sooooooooooooo happy!
So that is my very first time making a mooncake! Now that I got the hang of it, I wanna make more!
Durian flavoured mooncake, anyone?
But let me share with you a little secret… I’ve tried West Lake Garden’s mooncakes and they are AWESOME! There are 2 flavours that I particularly LOVE to bits! Wanna know more? Coming soon… my entry on Mooncake Secrets at West Lake Garden!
