Bao Bei Reading Wonderland : Fee structure

We are looking for a decent place for Ethan to learn Mandarin. Our first stop is the well-known Bao Bei Reading Wonderland.

Bao Bei Reading Wonderland, children’s super-learning programme? Really so super?

While Darling and I were busy enquiring about the programme, Ethan kept himself entertained…

He’s getting restless. Okay, okay… so you are hungry. Let’s go Snowflake :P

Before we left, I almost fainted when given the fee structure…

Fee Structure

For a 1 1/2 hours session five days a week, the fee comes up to a whopping RM410 monthly! Not forgetting the one time misc fee of RM200! Aiyo… why-lah so expensive?!! Why oh why is education soooooo costly these days?! >_<

Having said all that, guess what? We are still going to let Ethan try Bao Bei. He’s gonna start the class next week. Crossing my fingers he will adapt well to the entirely strange environment to him as he is a total banana.

What about the exhorbitant fee you ask me? Well, I reckon if I quit Snowflake, we’ll be able to afford this. Ethan learning Mandarin is way more important than me getting my brain freezed! :P

That super or not? I doubt ler. Haha :D I learn at home don't need to go tuition. :p

    • //

      Tekkaus,

Who's gonna teach Ethan at home? Me langsung dunno Mandarin :(

  • //

That's really expensive but maybe it's good! Can give it a try la!

  • //

    luckily i knew Mandarin =.="

    • //

      Choi Yen,

We trade can? I teach Sam english u teach Ethan mandarin :D

  • //

    it's good to start young

  • //

nowadays very expensive to bring up a child. Sigh, how how how? :P

  • //

My daughter went into hiding – stayed under the table until we promised her – no Mandarin classes! Simply refused to go to Chinese school….after the Chinese kindy. I remember she used to pick up the phrases the teacher used e.g. "Kui chai na pien!" (Kneel over there!)

    • //

Do they still use this kind of disciplinary action in schools?

      Hmmm..

    • //

Are they allowed to do that these days? Nevermind, I sit outside, anything I can still hear!

  • //

wow, it is expensive. maybe a tuition teacher is cheaper? places like this is expensive because they know we need them :P

    • //

      Mommy Chums,

Besides learning Mandarin, I need him to learn to be independent and to be away from me. Currently he is home-schooled for English, Maths and more so Mandarin has GOT to be somewhere else. I heard many ppl raved about this place so I'm trying. Crossing my fingers what I heard is right though. If not, I can always stop him immediately :D

  • //

Perhaps a good tuition teacher is betterand cheaper

    • //

      Elaine,

I'll most probably scout other places but not to get a tuition teacher. I need Ethan to be in a 'school' with little children to play with. He's so bored of being in a one to one class with only him and the teacher. He needs friends :)

  • //

There are many options. not necessary to go to Branded Bao Bei…ehehhe but i do know of one mommy blogger..her son, within 6 months showed result …

    • //

yes, totally agree. There are several other options i'm eyeing too. Will scout them out laters and will definitely blog about the pro and cons :D

  • //

Good mama, willing to quit her Snowflake for Ethan sake. :)

    • //

Oh YES! BIG sacrifice tu! @_@

  • //

u can opt for not 5 days a week, instead can go for 3 days then cheaper. hehe this one not as expensive as shichida. That one rm1.2k for 3 months and 45 mins a week only.

    • //

      Sasha,

The 5 days and 3 days/week not much difference leh. Only RM50 so I dun mind sending him for 5 days straight as he has no one else to practice his Mandarin with at home. :)

  • //

My son's classmates got a few go for this bao bei after class, but i think should be different branch from which you go la… Didn't know it's that expensive… but, they all said quite good la, lots of positive feedback~~~ But I didn't enroll him in , since I think 3 hours at school is already enough for him.. Hopefully, worth the money you paid for la..

  • //

Eh, Ethan is not going to kindergarten? Coz kindergarten also can teach Mandarin. I thought your husband can teach Ethan also..hehe.

    • //

      Carolyn,

Ethan is not attending any school at the moment :)

      • //

No need also lar. Ethan's mom is already an expert in teaching preschoolers. You already save money there! Why not splurge a little at Bao Bei right? :)

  • //

Darren is attending Bau Bei too and I can tell you he LOVES it. He was a banana too when he first attended but now he talks to me in mandarin. SInce they are using flash cards method, Darren now can recognise over 300 words in 7 months time. He surprised me sometimes he can read those chinese signboard outside.

I think you can start Ethan on 3 days first and it is still as effective coz Darren is only attending 3 days.

    • //

That is nice to know, that it works on Darren. Haha… crossing fingers that it will do the same to Ethan :)

  • //

Just a mandarin course for RM410, it is really expensive. Do more survey for other options before signing up.

  • //

We also went to Bao Bei to enquire when we were in KL last month. I like their teaching method. The fees is expensive maybe bcoz they have classes everyday. We made up our mind to enroll Gwen once we moved back to KL.

    Hey Merryn!

Thanks for your comment on my journey as a breastfeeding mother post! Don't feel bad for breastfeeding 3 months! You are better than some ppl I know, they don't even want to try breastfeeding from day 1! Such a waste!

Anyway, hope your son will be able to grasp and learn Mandarin! So good of you guys to send him so early! We're going to look for a nursery/daycare (half day maybe) for my boy soon, so that at least I got a few hours with my Spicy Baby when she comes along in 1 months time!

  • //

your son 4 years old, should go to kindergarten, even 3 years old can go.

Kindergarten got teach Mandarin, kindergarten fee half day ard RM300 more, full day ard RM500 more, you can consider.

  • //

Do they do one to one coaching every session?
