No Plastic Bag Day – Every Saturday
The ‘No Plastic Bag Day’ initiative was kicked off in Selangor on 2nd January 2010 with the aim to encourage further reduction of plastic bag usage across the city.
Effective January 2010, every Saturday is a plastic bag-free day in Selangor.
Therefore, it is better for shoppers to make a Habit of using less plastic bags and bringing your own bags when shopping.
Customers who insist on plastic bags will have to pay between 10 sen to 20 sen per bag.
I have nothing but praise for this move and am very happy to shop with my own bags :D
errr… i still can't buy w.o plastic bags., very environmental 'unfriendly'
Chris – YOU have to learn to be more environment friendly leh.. Or else the ocean will be filled with plastic bags and submerryn will get lost nagivating thru them! Then.. mati lor da sub! :P
i m all for it!
it is really a great idea!it is good and this 2012 will never come again if all people follow and make it works. If that day come, i am sure die cause i don't have 1 billion euro with me now. You have to book the ship ticket asap.
woo.. Merryn…I found you are very interested in one of the post by Cleffairy.:) ok that's all – happy day!
I'm all for this too!Just that I have to keep reminding myself to keep a few bags in the car when we go out… :)
Forgot to add this… I like this action taken by the government. If u talk only no use… u must put words into action and walk the talk! :)now ppl are 'forced' to go along with it even if they are not for this campaign… those kedukut ppl for sure will bring their own bags ;)
good one. here, tesco gv you club card point for each beg you save
Yeah! It is a good effort. Hopefully one day…it will be no plastic bags at all. :D
LOL-ed so hard at Voon's statement! Aahahahahaha…. can almost see me golek golek on the floor. She's new at my place… so she donno that I wrote loads of such craps. Chris would probably vouch for me. LOL…Oiks…. submerryn being environmental fwenly worr… so good. Unlike me… ahahahaha….litterbug! Ahahahaha….
We have that in Sibu since last year…but ours is on Monday. I have a few tote bags… I think I posted on them sometime ago even before this no-plastic-bag thingy going on.
i just realised this when i was shopping at 1u last Sat. i am fine with this, except when buying anything wet from the supermarket *hehe*
hehe Banglades has started long before us. BTW< a very good step to hinder environmental complications in the futureKisah Profesor Yang Ujub
I always forget la!!! Remind me to take my own bag.. but then i think i will end up taking 5 or 6 bags to the groceries.. last night itself, i bought 116rm of them.. i told the cashier to just paste the "sold" sticker on some packets.. no need plastic bags.. so.. am i kwai or not? :)
I must remember to bring along my own shopping bag. I keep procrastinating.
Hahaha, I was there in Giant on Saturday. I have decided not to shop groceries on Saturday…LOLAnyway, if you shop at boutiques outlets on Saturday, you will be given nice beautiful paper bag instead..WOW!
That's good initiative. We've started taking our own bags when we go shopping for groceries. It's great to not have the mess of plastic bags in the cupboards.
But I thought the bio-degradable plastic bags by Tesco should be OK right?
And… I thought reusing plastic bag is environmental friendly too?You see, I don't throw away those plastic bags from supermarket, I reused them instead of buying "other" garbage bag to pack "sampah" – we do still need to use plastic bag somehow to pack our sampah – right, or wrong?
I support the move. Yeah!
Yeah echo foongpc that we can still use bio-degradable bags. How are we going package our wet rubbish from the kitchen? I re-use those plastic bags just like [lupie] for my kitchen garbage. May I ask how do you guys manage the kitchen garbage especially when there are prawn heads & shells, fish bones etc?
nice entry.. support 'no plastic bag on saturday!!'
Carrefour is using bio-degradable plastic bags, have they stopped using them? Are bio-degradable plastics bags not accepted?
Yeah, of coz we still do need plastic bag from time to time. Bananaz – You know what? I actually bury the prawn heads, banana peel and more in a big big pot in front of my house and let them degrade and become dunno what… ended up with lots of worms for my plants :P
i totally support no plastic day, but then i still need it for my rubbish bin lo. unless we all install the gadget in our sink trap, those tat grind everything to ashes kind? errr… i hope u know wat im talking about. haha!
Its a great move. They give us carton boxes to carry. That is good enough for us. :)
Now that we are on about plastic bags … one time (about a year ago..), TESCO intentionally poke holes on their bio-plastic bags so that no one would take "more" home to use as garbage bags! That's disgusting …
