English for everyone
Last night I was quite free. I blog hopped until I kind of lost track of where I was. It felt like I’d gone to the moon and back, but one blog remained quite distinct in my mind. Why? Because out of nowhere, in the middle of the night, I found myself to be learning English all over again.
The particular post that attracted me to that blog was the usage of “Lend’ or “Borrow”. I’ve made the common mistakes listed there over and over again. NOW I know when to use LEND and when to use BORROW. I also realised, there are so many things for me to learn again. It’s kind of like, a refresher’s course.
Oi, I’m starting to sound like I’m writing a paid post or something. Alright, I better let you see what I’m talking about. Check it out yourself here.

I want to learn English too. I used to read some people's blog that is so well written. I wish to write like them someday too.

I have problem to remember which is mine and mind. I know the differences but somehow, I have problem to use the right words at the right place. So, after many years, I finally put it right…me=mine (ie, mine-in=me)….at last!Next is pronunciation and writing. If you read my blog (especially those) published near to midnight, I made interesting error: thrall and thaw. The problem is because I failed to pronounce correctly and therefore wrong word was used. My wife would be the first one to alert me…eh, how do you spell…, eh, you got all the tenses mixed up… hahaha. You are doing fine. I have been speaking English for nearly 50 years now and still make blunder!

william, use spell check lah. But then again, spell check wont detect if u wrongly use 'mind' instead of 'mine'.. hahaha

Merryn, i know whose blog that is.. hehe… as for the lend and borrow, i do know that but my girl doesnt, she was confused at times, not only her, my own friends as well.. so it is quite a common that ppl tend to mix up the both.

I am not boastful, but I am better in writen English than oral and I know my verbs, noun, adjective pretty well than my hubby. :p if my English serves me right, lend is where someone give you something, while borrow is where you take something from someone….hehehe! anyway, I will check the link later so I know the correct usage of both!!

Thanks for this link, Merryn, because I really need some improvement on my English, too.

Oh yes, that is one of the most common error made in spoken English. when I was young, my father made a bookmark for me. It says, "Lend to, Borrow From". I never made a mistake since
